Back in the late 90’s I remember reading in one of those ‘Celebrity Beauty Secrets’ articles that Britney Spears spritzed her face in Evian to keep her skin glowing. I was skeptical but this didn’t stop me from begging my mom for a can of this, well, plain water (I mean literally, plain water) who told me to put some water in a spray bottle and act my age. Oh, mothers. Fast forward to now and face sprays are one of my favourite skincare indulgences. I don’t put makeup setting sprays in the same category as face sprays or mists, though similar I don’t use these two products the same way nor do I expect the same results. Can you utilize a face mist as a setting spray, absolutely and some are marketed this way but I don’t based on the differing results and often times very different ingredients.
I use a face spray for delivering additional moisture, soothing irritated skin, balancing if I’m feeling oily and any time I need a little refresher. For humid days when your pores are looking a little crazy, nothing beats a spritz of pore minimizing spray that banishes sticky skin. There are even a couple of brands that include SPF in their mists and keeping your skin protected could not be easier. Hyper-sensitive, acne prone skin being my number one issue(s), I look for sprays that include aloe, chamomile, cucumber or witch hazel just to name a few of my favourite ingredients. I also look for sprays that promote radiance and of course, treat enlarged pores.
My current everyday face spray is yestograpefruit Pore Perfection Toning Mist which is part of a new grapefruit infused line that treats pores, dark spots and overall skin tone issues. I bought it for the pore treating properties but there are so many reasons that I enjoy this product. It smells amazing, just like a freshly sliced grapefruit and is the perfect ‘refreshment’ to get me through the day.The ingredients include aloe, grapefruit and papaya extracts, lentil seed extract and it is certified organic. I have already raved about the benefits of vitamin C (toning, brightening and tightening) and this product is no exception, it feels amazing on and does wonders for my skin tone, it absorbs instantly delivering immediate moisture. Also, I feel that the spray-can delivery provides a more evenly dispersed application than some of my other setting sprays that come in spray bottles. The cap also locks so you can you stick it in your bag. I use this spray a couple of times a day, don’t over do it – you know what they say about too much of a good thing 🙂 I think that this one will definitely become a summer staple!
Do you need a face spray, maybe not but they are really such a lovely item to have around and offer loads of benefits. If you have not tried a face spray or mist and are wondering if one is right for you, here is a list of my top 5 products in no particular order:

Soothing Face Mist – Glossier (put this one on auto-delivery, seriously)
Rose Hibiscus Coconut Water Hydrating Face Mist – Herbivore
