It is Friday and even though I don’t have any big weekend plans I am looking forward to some downtime. All of these new makeup releases are driving me crazy but I am choosing wisely – The Body Shop is opening a new store near me and I am stoked to get in there.
Before I jump into my skin care item of choice this evening I wanted to share my desire to open an Etsy store. This is by no means a plug I am just thinking out loud, it has been something that I’ve been contemplating for ages. I make various little soaps and bath treats but not on a large scale and only ever as gifts. I’m not terrible at it and I find it very soothing to mix soaps and press bath bombs. Anyway, I think I am going to at least start developing some branding…I will share more as it happens, thanks for listening 🙂
So, since I have been cleared to eat tomatoes I cannot get enough of them! Ketchup is amazing, salsa, tomato and grill cheese – delish. And I have not stopped at just eating them, I am also slathering my face in them. Tomatoes are packed with Vitamin C and antioxidants making them a reportedly potent remedy for oily, acne prone skin. I have been desperately trying to get off the benzoyl peroxide, though it is crazy effective at treating acne it causes your skin to become thinner over time. Thus the reason my face bleeds when I use makeup brushes, if I could stop using it that would be great. Don’t let this put you off the BP though, I have been using it for over 10 years and this isn’t a common side effect. Back to tomatoes, I am always on the hunt for more natural remedies and have been using the full line of Yes To Tomatoes for 6’ish weeks now. I discussed a couple of products from this line in an earlier post and and wanted to share more about the tomato toner that has become a fast favourite.
This toner is fabulously refreshing – formulated with aloe, green tea, witch hazel and watermelon it feels and smells wonderful. This toner also contains salicylic acid but is still incredibly gentle and it cleans up any leftover skin cells or grungy bits. I have sensitive skin that can react poorly to pretty much anything but this toner does not bother me one bit. It makes my skin feel toned and refreshed, the only downside is that I am blowing through a bottle a month! I have only been able to find this toner at SuperTarget and it tends to be out of stock, I am going to order my next bottle from Amazon and see how that goes. It has become such a must have that I bought my second bottle before I was even totally out and I hardly ever prepare ahead so you know it is good 😛
Something I am on the fence about is that the entire line contains small percentages of salicylic acid, which does not turn my face scarlet like the benzoyl but can also have side effects. My skin has been looking pretty good though and less oily so if this line gets me off the BP – so be it. My dermatologist recommended to use both (sparingly) in tandem but I think this would probably melt the flesh right off my face. I was going to add an image from Total Recall but I will spare you 🙂
I really appreciate the potency and effectiveness of this line plus it is very affordable and totally worth it. They also offer scrubs and masks – definitely worth a look see 🙂 I highly recommend!
Thanks for stopping by ❤
