After I stopped using bareMinerals foundation I was very discouraged while trying to find a new one. The shades were off, the texture didn’t work for me, they didn’t last and some even caused skin irritation. After trying and vetoing many foundations, I finally have a selection that I use on rotation. The favourites can vary depending on the season or occasion but here are my top 3 (the dreaded 3) go to summer foundations. I chose a high-end, middle and drugstore as I like this variety in my everyday routine.
First up is the Naked Skin foundation from Urban Decay in shade .5. In all honesty, it took many a trial and error to make this foundation work for me. It is very sheer and I was failing to get any coverage using a foundation brush, this all changed when I switched to using the BeautyBlender (I have raved about this already and will spare you). Once I was able to get a smooth, even application, this foundation did just what the claims said it would do. It provides demi-matte, buildable coverage and leaves my skin looking flawless. It is very lightweight, I love that it just melts into my own skin and doesn’t feel or look like a mask. This shade is a touch on the yellow side but nothing scary and otherwise, this foundation is perfect for a quick face that won’t melt off.
My middle range foundation is the Quick-Fix Body foundation stick from dermablend in nude and this stuff is crazy amazing! I use this over a BB and just swipe on in the same fashion that I would apply concealer and blend. This shade is perfect for my skin tone, it is a full coverage formula but it is so creamy and comfortable to wear. I used to only utilize this for tattoo cover up but on a whim just swiped it all over my face and loved it instantly. A little setting powder and this product will last all day. It is also always in my bag for any emergencies during the day. Totally awesome.
Finally my drugstore go to foundation is the About Face foundation by FlowerBeauty in shade 1. I think I recently talked about this foundation, I like it because it is so easy to apply – you really cannot goof it up. This shade is also totally neutral so it works well with a no makeup, makeup look. This foundation is a tad on the thicker side but I’ve not run into any issue with transferring and it stands the test of eating, humidity, rain, etc. I’ve gotten a lot of wear out of this 14$ foundation and will be keeping it in my stock!
I still cannot believe that I had such a hard time finding a new foundation and now I have a variety to work with but a lot of my frustration was solved by just switching tools. I have unfortunately yet to find a foundation that matches my skin tone as well as mineral foundation but am pretty close. What are your favourite summer foundations?
Thanks for stopping by ❤
