Pumpkin Spice Done Right

Welp, reddit ruined Grease for me last night – I have to get off that website or stick to the areas that I am there for and not go wandering into the abyss of information that one never needs to know. Like ever, in their lifetime but I am really glad that all of the conspiracy theorists have a place to hang out 😀 As a kid, I was so into that movie but watching it later in life I often wonder if my mom ever knew what all of those double entendre meant? There is a dirty, dirty movie hiding under all of that taffeta and pink satin so it should not come as any surprise that there might be a hidden agenda. However, I am remaining skeptical.

‘Tis the season of the pumpkin spice latte or PSL as it is being referred to on many social media sites and yes, I had to google this because I had no idea what that meant. I am afraid that our language will someday evolve into an all acronym form of communique, hit any mall and tell me that this is not already happening. I loved the PSL when I had my very first one about 10 (gasp) years ago but it has not tasted the same since, it is so sweet and syrupy that it almost makes me gag now. I can feel my teeth decaying with every sip. Needless to say, I have not had one in years. But, that does not mean that I have to skip on this seasonal treat as I can make it at home with less sugar and more pumpkin which is really why this drink is so addicting.

Pinterest actually recommended this little gem of a recipe and I am so glad – I don’t think that I would have found it on my own! This recipe for crock pot (what can’t you put in a crock pot, I ask you) pumpkin spice lattes is absolutely delish:

phototasticcollage-2016-09-09-22-59-02This recipe is dreamy as is but I like to cut the sugar and go heavy on the whipped cream – I am addicted to whipped cream and sour cream…pretty much any cream. My thighs concur 😛 I also add espresso and skip on a cup of coffee to add richness. This drink is rich, creamy, decadent and ultra-pumpkiny. I like to whip up a batch on a lazy Sunday and get my PSL fix throughout the day. If you don’t think that you can drink it all, put it in a tupperwear, freeze it and then double boil it to reheat when you are ready – works like a charm. This is a great after dinner crowd pleaser as well, have a batch crocking while you eat and serve with dessert. If you are here for the pumpkin (who isn’t) then definitely check this one out!!

Thanks for stopping by ❤
