Confession: I am addicted to Scream Queens. Disclaimer: I am more of an X-Files kinda’ gal but when I was flipping through shows and saw Jamie Lee Curtis, whom I have loved ever since True Lies – sold. Plus, it is hysterical in an over-acting, hyperbolic, basic, I shouldn’t find any of this stuff funny kinda’ way and who can’t appreciate that?
Anyway, I think that I have tried about every foundation stick currently on the market and many while decent still lack something. My go to has been Dermablend but when I saw that Anastasia Beverly Hills was set to release a stick foundation with a broader range of shades, I was pretty excited. I like stick foundation as it covers just about anything, it is super easy to apply, easy to touch up and durable. And yet, I am on the fence with this one.
Unfortunately, alabaster was out of stock and I grabbed a warm porcelain and a porcelain since I was in between 2 shades anyway. This tube is a tad smaller than other stick foundations but you are paying a few bucks less as it is and this was not a deal breaker. The formula is very creamy and glides right on but it didn’t provide the coverage that I was expecting. After blending, the formula was almost sheer – nothing a little concealer couldn’t remedy but still a bummer. This foundation did not oxidize, huge for me and it lasted at least the 8 hours that I put it through with minimal creasing. The formula isn’t drying and even though it is creamy it didn’t look oily. I love the way it feels but honestly, I would only be able to wear this formula in tandem with a heavy duty concealer or sheer foundation which defeats the purpose in my opinion.
Overall, really great formula but don’t hold your breath expecting it to perform as well as many other stick foundations. If you don’t need or want a lot of coverage then this might be great for you but it is a no go for me.
