I don’t have good hair, I have mostly straight hair with a little wave, it is coarse and thick and it just sits there. It doesn’t straighten to a sleek bob, it also won’t curl but ladies, it does crimp and if this article is in anyway accurate I could have fashionable hair for the first time ever, in my lifetime. I already have a bitching crimper and I do use it on occasion which has probably been a major faux pas but I am soon to be on trend and am pretty pumped. I love a good crimp, a nice big, teased out crimp – I honestly cannot wait for this to be a thing again.
Moving on but keep an eye out for photos of my best crimp 😛 Highlighter, it is everywhere, on everyone and I have a serious addiction. Highlighter is very easy for me to use, I get much better results with nontouring than I do with contouring. This technique is just super easy and a cinch to wear every day without a lot of time commitment or looking overdone. I probably have more highlighter than I know what to do with but I like choices, I need choices. A few wish lists ago, I mentioned wanting the outrageously priced tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Highlighter but was not impressed with the 28$ price tag. I was holding out for a coupon which are far and few between at Sephora but, this highlighter has finally become available at ULTA and I cashed in some points and scored a pan for 10$ – not too shabby.
This highlighter comes in a sturdy, plastic compact with a mirror similar to their blushers and it is very easy to just toss in my bag for on the go brightening up. The shade is subtle champagne that surprisingly, is not too yellow for my skin tone – this is an issue that I run into a lot. This highlighter imparts the perfect glow without being too glittery but disclaimer here, I am way into glitter so it might be a little bold for some – I never know and yes, I know that I am too old for glitter. That being said, I still think it is perfect for day time looks as it makes my skin glowy and luminous rather than shimmery or glittery. The formula is nice and buttery, I had no issue picking up enough product with my fan brush and depositing it just where I wanted it without flaking. The big question is does it last for the 12 hours that it claims to? I cannot say for sure but my gut says no. I don’t know if it is just the difference in lighting between work and home but I add more throughout the day – not a lot more, only on my lunch break but it definitely fades faster than it should based on the claims. This is not a deal breaker for me, I still love the shade and it works really well with my skin tone. Even with an added layer, this highlighter doesn’t get cakey. It is easy to use and overall it looks really lovely.
Would I pay 28$ for it – probably not. Honestly, it performs much the same as some of my much thriftier highlighters and I don’t necessarily care about the Amazonian clay factor. I love tarte which is the main reason that I wanted it and while it is a good addition to my collection, I think that there are other highlighters out there that provide a little more bang for your buck.
