    Precious Petals

Recently I was reading an article (fine – a gossip column, so sue me) about a celebrity who was responding to accusations about getting plastic surgery. Accusations, she was being accused of enhancing her features. In a society where anything can be bought and paid for – why are we accusing someone of getting plastic surgery – is it a crime?  I’d just like to say that I can think of about 10 procedures that I  would get done if I had the cash and I just wouldn’t feel bad about it. Nothing extreme, little tuck here, little shave there 😛 But why do people feel bad about it and…

    Miscellaneous Thoughts on Underwear

So Friday night I rushed home to get the place spick and span, laundry done, carpets vacuumed, dusting, etc which are usually Saturday activities but I had a new book arriving on Saturday! Indeed, I cleared my weekend for a new book and it was so worth it. The series that I am reading has already been released and is being translated into English – at least I don’t have too terribly long to wait for the next one! In other news, I really, really hate having to buy new underwear – I find it terribly embarrassing. If you buy it online then you have to look at women actually…

    New Bag!

Modcloth has struck again – they have a handful of new totes from StreetLevel. I own a number of these totes and they are all fabulous from the construction to the colours – just really nice, affordable bags. My very first tote is a deep green one and it is getting a little worn after 4 years – I wish they would bring it back so that I can get a backup! This new tote while the same size has a little bit different build, it has two compartments that snap close and a middle zippered compartment. My other totes have 1 snap closure and I am loving the separate…

    Coco -Nuts

About a week ago, Wet ‘n Wild was offering all (17 total) of their pink & white brushes as a bundle deal for 23.99 – a total steal. I think these brushes are fantastic, they are super soft, they don’t shed and they have been holding up really well after washing. Even though I am a BB purist, I can find a use for every brush in this collection. I am really excited to take the angled eyeliner brush for a test spin, I think it is going to up my wing game (I am wretched at wings and rarely attempt them). This bundle is available for a limited time, totally worth…

Phaser to Flawless – Top 4 Concealers

I did not stick to my goal of less macaroni & cheese last week but happy to report that I have not had any this week! During this time of year I could probably survive on mac & cheese and naps. I love naps, I relish naps – to me they are an event. More naps, less carbs, makes total sense 😛 Also, totally off topic – major kudos to MOA announcing that they will be closed on Thanksgiving. This is major and I hope that other retailers follow suit. Yes, I know that there is some financial gain to them as well but I hope this sets a precedent…

    Holiday Wish List

Eek! As I start seeing more advertisements for holiday releases and holiday themed sales, I realize that we are hurtling towards this holiday season at warp speed. I love the holidays, with Halloween being the kick-off to my holiday season I get a good 2’ ish months of festivities. However, I dread it every year! I truly believe in holiday high and I come down hard. Once the decorations and music and snow starts to dissipate, I get seriously blue. I don’t do a lot of material stuff but I have so much fun making and sending cards, baking goodies for the office, watching holiday movies, volunteering, cooking, getting bundled…

    Highlight to the Danger Zone

Yup – I went there 😉 I had a really good sweet potato when out to eat this weekend and it reminded me that I am a big fan of the sweet potato but I don’t buy them on the regular because I cannot find good ones. They are usually dry and shriveled and baked or boiled they turn out tough. I am on a mission now for succulent sweet potatoes. In other news, my nail is chipped and it is driving me bananas – I cannot get a fill until tomorrow evening and it is just one of those things. I feel so off kilter but I also thought…

    Cruel to be Kind

Before I jump into this review, I just wanted to say  I know that Clinique is not cruelty free and I won’t be repurchasing these 2 items after I have finished them. I strongly support brands that are cruelty free and having volunteered with shelter animals for years now, I am striving to move to all cruelty free brands. Don’t get me wrong, I own a lot of cosmetics that are not cruelty free and this is a more recent effort on my part. That being said, it really irks me that brands who are well-known for being cruelty free are owned by larger brands that aren’t. To me it…

    NARS Attack

I am in a personal, moral struggle with the expansion of Hy-Vee into Minnesota. I just think that the amount of grocery stores that are available is a tad, well disgusting. In the suburb that I live in we already have two CUBS, two SuperTargets, Fresh and Thyme, Wal Mart SuperCenter, Costco, Sam’s Club, Kowalski’s, Lund’s and an Aldi that is being built (this one really pisses me off because they are building a brand new building right next to a recently vacated Rainbow grocery store that is sitting empty). Did I mention that all of the Twin Cities Rainbow grocery stores were recently shuttered? Is there really a demand…
