I grew up on Judy Blume, Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing was my read, I knew that she penned books for more mature audiences later in her career but I was not prepared for Summer Sisters. What a devastating book, she packed so much tragedy into 500’ish pages it was so good but man it wrecked my soul. Summer Sisters is a tale of two girls, one being wealthy who takes her lesser advantaged friend along with her to Martha’s Vineyard each summer. This soon becomes more than just summers and turns into a surrogate family situation. Suddenly a new world is opened up to her while she leaves her family behind, some who she will never see again 😦 Check it out if you want to ball your eyes out.
For Sample Saturday I have the Derma E Daily Detox Scrub that came in the Vegan Cuts Mystery Beauty Haul, this wasn’t a part of the monthly subscription it was an optional box for purchase. That box was actually pretty neat, it included 15 skincare/beauty items and I received some good stuff. This scrub is formulated with one of my fav skincare ingredients, charcoal and is mild enough to use everyday. No, it does not remove makeup – I read a few people mentioning this in reviews, well duh. When I use this, it is the 2nd step to my double cleanse routine. This scrub is a gritty paste that gently exfoliates leaving the skin matte and refreshed. Charcoal is fantastic for oily skin, it just gets in there and sucks it all up which sounds super gross but is amazing. It has a slightly fruity scent which doesn’t bother but I don’t see anything in the ingredients to attribute this to – it could be the marine algae…? Whatever that smells like, who knows. Moving on, this product is also 100% vegan, cruelty and paraben free. I think it is fabulous, I am unsure if I would purchase the full size product at this time – I have about 3 other charcoal scrubs that I am working through (seriously, it’s just amazing) but I am plowing through this sample so we shall see. Another quality sample from Vegan Cuts!
