Super Shine with Super Shock

I placed a really bizarre Colourpop order when they released their Valentine’s Day collection, it arrived today and I am just staring at the contents. I didn’t totally know what I wanted as most of the collection was pressed eye shadow duos and I had never tried those before. I have way too many Super Shock shadows and wasn’t in love with the quad, I ended up with a few of the duos, the highlighter, 2 random pressed shadows and 1 random Super Shock. I clearly had no plan or strategy but it is all super cute I am going to take the pressed shadows for a test run in the AM. A certain Beauty Killer palette has been a total let down (more on this later) and I want to put together a dupe with single shadows, these might be a good jumping off point. Also – f you haven’t tried their new brushes, they are pretty fabulous. Anyway, on to a product that I already know and love from Colourpop, their highlighters!

When I first purchased one, I was not crazy about it and had a hard time getting the colour to transfer to my face but after having tried a few different techniques I have come to love this product. The texture is so unique, it is a cross between a cream and a powder and they are pigmented so perfectly. The crux is getting that high-shine to transfer to my face. I have found a couple of way to do this – the best being to set my face then get my (clean) fingers loaded up with product, spritz them with setting spray and gently dab onto my face. I know finger application might not be everyone’s cup of tea but if I am not sharing then I don’t mind it. With this method I get precise, high-shine but little to no blending. For a more subtle, blended highlight – follow the same steps but use a fan brush to really get into the product – you won’t get as much shine but it still works.

I find these highlighters to be pretty low-maintenance and they have a million uses; arches, inner eyes, bridge of nose – they really just look lovely anywhere. Just remember to seal those jars tight as those little cushions of goodness will dry out. I currently own Butterfly Beach, Smoke ‘n Whistles, Wisp, Churro and the new tie-dye Valentine’s release, Tough Love. My fav is Churro, which is also a tie-dye and I think this is my 3rd pan – it is like a bronzer and highlight all in one. I have not used Tough Love yet but I will be back with my full thoughts once I do!

Thanks for stopping by <3
