Sample Saturday – Michael Todd Beauty

No lie, I feel like a total jerk posting about this sample because I was ragging on it before I had even used it in my April Birchbox post. It is common knowledge that I have an affinity for purple and usually assume that products in purple packages are better than others – not always the case. Instead of sticking to a method with using samples I immediately had to try the Michael Todd Blue Green Algae Antibacterial Toner because of that pretty, purple bottle. Admittedly, I wasn’t buying into anything about this product but am now sold.

The reviews for this product are pretty mixed on the Birchbox site but pretty great on the brand’s site – while I was researching this product I started checking out their blog and appreciated how informative it was. I think it is pretty neat that they offer loads of products to slap on your face but also tons of info about healthy skin to help you pick your regimens. In addition to that the, they are all about high-performing, effective natural treatments that you can feel good about using and not worry about harsh additives. Anyway, this toner smells incredible and it feels so clarifying. Back in the day, instead of toner we used astringent that had alcohol which made your skin feel squeaky clean as it basically stripped your skin which come to find out is terrible. Can you even purchase astringents anymore? This toner feels so ultra-clarifying that I figured it had to be alcohol based – not so, it is 100% organic aloe vera leaf juice. Amazing but it is also formulated with kelp, blue green algae and hyaluronic acid. Back to the scent, I don’t know what it is but it smells very herbal and wholesome – I have become addicted to it. This product hasn’t irritated my skin and it’s a nice addition to my nighttime routine when I want to make sure that there isn’t any leftover gunk from the day. My skin loves it, it feels clarified, balanced and refreshed. Needless to say, I blasted through the sample and have purchased the full size that retails at $19 for 8.4 ounces.

I am definitely impressed and have to admit am dying to give this a whirl (I’ll try anything at this point) and maybe their cleansing tool 😛 This was a fantastic introduction to the brand and I cannot argue with how much my skin loves this stuff!

Thanks for stopping by <3
