Glossier – Hot or Not

I don’t think that I have ever done a post like this…? Mostly because I cannot think of another brand that I have tried almost everything from. Brands are just releasing so many products now days, I think that this will probably remain the case. Ever since I read an Into The Gloss article about the beauty editor found Glossier, I was intrigued and wanted to try everything which I eventually have except for their lip gloss! I feel that I have developed a fairly good feel for the brand and might be a reliable source of information. I would be a terrible sales person 😛 These opinions are just my own experiences with these products, I of course only have 1 skin type and 1 complexion to work with 🙂 Let’s get to it:

OG Priming Moisturizer – Hot! I love this product, it is lightweight and you can apply as little or as much as you need to feel hydrated. I have used this product with and without primer, I like it both ways but if you want the staying power that primer gives you then obviously add it. It doesn’t clog pores, doesn’t break up my makeup and doesn’t get oily. It’s just a nice, balanced, everyday moisturizer.

Priming Moisturizer Rich – Not. I just don’t love this stuff enough to merit a repurchase at $35. There isn’t anything in it that makes me feel it should cost that much, sorry. It is formulated with ceramides, algae, fatty acids, murumuru butter and lavender. It does feel nice but not much outside of that. This also tends to break me out and the lavender stings my face a bit. I should have known the last bit but when a product claims to be suitable for all skin types, I have to give it a whirl.

Soothing Face Mist – Warm? Can I cheat? Here is the deal, this face mist is rosewater, aloe and glycerin – nothing else. It retails at $18 for 4 ounces, certainly not the most expensive mist that I have tried but Mario Badescu does almost the exact same mist that retails at $12 for 8 ounces. There just isn’t anything terribly special about this spray and between the two, the Glossier actually smells more artificial. If you don’t want any dyes in your face mist then you are probably willing to pay more, I prefer the Mario Badescu and get the same results but this is still a nice product.

The Supers – Not. These are three different skin care products that treat different skin concerns. Super Bounce is a combination of hyaluronic acid and B5 that is supposed to plump, hydrate and soften. Super Glow is a Vitamin C and Magnesium concoction that is supposed to treat dull skin. And Super Pure is Niacinamide and Zinc to balance, purify and smooth. The first time that I used these, I loved them but stopped seeing results when I purchased a second round. It kinda’ just felt like I was putting water on my face plus the price is outrageous – .5 ounces for $28 each! Cute packaging but overall ineffective and not worth it!

Mega Greens Galaxy Pack – Hot! This is one of my favourite masks when my skin is misbehaving. It is formulated with white clay, avocado oil, aloe, bitter orange peel and other good skin stuff. I use this mask as a spot treatment, as an all over treatment – it isn’t too drying but my skin definitely feels purified.

Moisturizing Moon Mask – Hot! This mask has so many yummy ingredients; licorice root, lemon extract, hyaluronic acid, honey and aloe! It just sounds refreshing, this banishes dry spots and my skin looks glow-y and hydrated every time I use this.

Milky Jelly Cleanser – Hot! This cleanser is so mild but removes every molecule of makeup and it can be used on eye makeup without burning my eyes! It doesn’t strip the skin, you get a hydrated, balanced and purified complexion. I also feel that this is one of their more affordable products at $18 for 6 ounces.

Invisible Shield SPF 35 – Could be hotter. This product is a gel that you can wear under makeup but over moisturizer so it took some getting used to and remembering to put it on. It is lightweight, doesn’t smell like sunscreen and wears well under makeup. It does what it should, SPF 35 is not a ton so points off there. Also, the tube is dinky – 1 ounce for $34. This didn’t break me out and I was excited to use on my chest which is prone to break outs from sunscreen but then I was using twice as much product! Super cute packaging, love the smell, like the overall concept but I can find a cheaper product that probably also moisturizes. This also isn’t a clean product so you are really paying more for no real reason, you can find better.

Balm Dotcom – Hot! I love this product, it is thicker than most balms but I wear it during the day, at night – it just feels so great on. There is a flavour for everyone, the only two that I don’t like are cherry and mint. Cherry because it smells so artificial and mint because it is so gritty.

Cloud Paint – So not. I loathe it, read more here. If you have flawless skin and don’t need a lot of foundation – this product is probably perfect for you! It just smeared my base and broke up over the day.

Haloscope – Hot! I own Quartz and Moonstone, these are really gorgeous for adding a little dewiness and glow. I apply under my foundation, on brow bones, cupid’s bow – etc. They aren’t sparkly and they meld so well with makeup giving a natural glow. If I can get any semblance of a tan or flush this summer, I might try Topaz which is the bronzier shade.

Boy Brow – Hot! This is a gel formula that is more flexible than potted brow pomades but provides a lot of hold and fluffs up the brows for those coveted, thick, face framing brows.

Generation G – Hot! I like the stain effect that these lippies provide and they feel really nice on the lips. These can be easily built up for more colour and they fade evenly leaving just a hint of pigment. I definitely enjoy these!

Stretch Concealer – Hot! This is a wax formula that doesn’t feel heavy or cakey, it sinks into the skin. It provides medium coverage in my opinion, on the days that I don’t need a lot of coverage – this is perfect! The only thing that I am not crazy about is that it is formulated with cocoa butter that can break me out.

Perfecting Skin Tint – So not. You need perfect skin for this to do anything. I wasn’t able to build for more coverage, at the end of the day it just pooled into weird spots and looked greasy. I don’t even think there really needs to be different shades, I could probably wear any shade and get the same results as it is just so sheer. I wear tinted moisturizers and BB’s that offer plenty of coverage, this did nothing. Also, you cannot use it with a beauty blender – all of the product soaks up. I tried to pat in with my fingers and just could not get an even application – not a fan.

That’s it for everything that I have tried from Glossier! I might try the lip gloss at a future date, I just don’t wear a ton of gloss so haven’t really looked twice at it. Another cool thing about this brand, their products ship with these handy pink, bubble envelopes – I reuse these for travelling, packing and storing makeup. Also, they send you sticker swag! I am a fan of the brand, I think they should send me a sweatshirt – geez.

I’d love to hear what you have tried or have been wanting to try! Thanks for stopping by <3
