My Subculture palette is in the mail and, you guys, the reviews for this palette are so bad! It makes me sad, I have been busting out my Modern Renaissance for the past week just to get in the mood and I want to love it! I think that the Modern Renaissance palette is pretty powdery and the replacement palette that I purchased a while back is even more powdery than the one that I purchased at the first release. I can still use it though and the pigment is fabulous, so I hope that is the case with Subculture. I have read some reviews that say to just get Androgyny but I really struggle using Beauty Killer, those shadows are too stiff for me to get good colour pay-off. I am realizing now how much simpler life was before makeup and blending 😛 Anyway, more on this later – the July Play! arrived a hot minute ago but I wanted to save it for last because I was pretty impressed with this box – not only in comparison to other Sephora boxes but in also to my other monthly subs. This month’s theme was Beauty Staycation and here is what I received this month:
Milk Makeup Cooling Water – I have been loving this brand but this isn’t something that I wanted to try out, it seemed really superfluous and unnecessary – which are synonyms and I think that’s irony…? I feel like this is a toner/moisturizer mash-up, it feels really nice and when I targeted the application to around my mouth where my skin gets painfully dry, I loved it. I enjoyed what it did for my skin, I am not totally sure if this is the intended use but I would splurge on this product just to improve the texture around my lips. It isn’t scented, it feels incredibly lightweight but it is fabulous.
It Cosmetics SuperHero Mascara – The tube on this product is very attractive, I am not opening it now though as I have been using less mascara because I have been wearing lashes. This product is supposed to be lengthening and volumizing without clumping, I hope it doesn’t dry out before I get to try it.
bareMinerals Gen Nude Matte Liquid Lip Color – I received Swag (has that been struck from the lexicon yet…?) which is like a nudey, mauvey shade. I own this in the full size and this is a gift away so I will not be swatching it. I like these lippies, if you are looking for long-wearing, matte, opaque colour though then these probably aren’t for you. This has the consistency of a gloss almost, it is matte but I apply it fairly often throughout the day. I don’t mind, these are easy to use – I am so self conscious about my lip lines and feel that these don’t settle in them as much as some of my mattes. I really enjoy the shade range, just easy to wear, everyday nudes.
boscia Charcoal Pore Pudding – We already know that I love this swirly pot of charcoal goodness. I reviewed the full size a couple of weeks ago, definitely recommend. This is also a gift away, I think the size of this sample is really awesome.
Briogeo Leave-In Conditioning Spray – I don’t use a leave-in, they tend to give me acne on the sides of my face. I received this same product in another box and I did try it then, it smells really good but I don’t know how performs in the hair.
Atelier Cologne Orange Sanguine Cologne – I really liked this when I spritzed it, I think it smells like an orange grove. I have only ever been to one orange grove but the smell is so distinct, very fresh and clean. The BF says it smells like cleaner and I think he means that it smells like the orange 409 that I use to clean the kitchen and I guess he isn’t wrong. That being said, this will not be my new fragrance 😛
I thought this was a great box with really good-sized products, even though I am giving quite a few items away I was impressed with the selection.
Did we get the same box?
Thanks for stopping by ❤
