Did I mention that I am over summer? The humidity, the needless sweating, frizzy hair and funky skin. I definitely wear less makeup in the hotter weather but I do still wear makeup and mixed with sweat, this can get gross quick. Luckily, I have found some effective products that keep my skin (mostly) clear. This is my simple, summer skincare routine 🙂
To start, we have the double cleanse which I find to be the best way to remove every speck of lotion, sunscreen and makeup. You can use a balm, Pond’s, oil based cleansing wipes – pretty much anything that is oil based that will dissolve makeup. I love the Palmer’s Skin Therapy Cleansing Oil, this oil removes makeup effortlessly but doesn’t strip my skin. I follow this up with my face brush and YesTo Tomatoes Daily Clarifying Cleanser for deep down cleansing and to combat any congestion that might be developing.
My favourite peel as of late is the The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution, this stuff is potent and I only use it once a week but is amazing. It keeps my skin smooth and all the funk sloughed off to reduce blockage and inflammation. It didn’t take long to get used to, the first couple of uses, my face was beet red and it was hard to keep it on at about minute 9 but now it doesn’t bother me. On nights that I am not peeling, I will do a mild mask of some kind – Glossier Moon Mask is my favourite for hydration.
For toners, I always do one treat and one soothe – I have been using the YesTo toner for acne and then the Mario Badescu for some hydration.
For lips, I am using the Poutmud Fizzy Lip which tastes like lemonade and any of the Balm Dotcom flavours works as a great lip mask.
I am back on the Confidence in a Cream face cream – I wanted something different than the cream that I had just finished and this is a solid product even if it is a little boring. I don’t use an extra serum or oil in the summer because I just don’t need that added hydration. This cream is plenty heavy for right now.
I am still in need of an essence and no lie – I am probably going back on the Good Genes, cost be damned. It really is an all in one treatment for many of the issues that I have off and on with my skin. I will miss my simplified, summer routine but I won’t miss the break outs.
