Ipsy,  Subscription Boxes

Wednesday Reveal – August Glambag

I have whittled my beauty sub-boxes down to three, I would still like to try a paper/craft subscription box but haven’t found one that seems worth the money. I would also prefer it to be a quarterly box rather than monthly as all of these odds and ends stack up fast when they are coming in every month. My August Ipsy arrived and I am really pleased with this one! I could take or leave the bag, of the choices, I do like the purple colour scheme the most but there are words that could be used to describe me, Wild & Free are not those words. Still, I think it is pretty and it does feel sturdy as well as decently made. This month’s theme is Good Vibes Only, I feel as though the creative team at Ipsy is still in festival mood, there have a been a few bags this spring/summer with these kumbaya kinda’ themes to them. Anyway, here is what I received in my bag:

belif Cosmetics The True Cream – Aqua Bomb – I have not tried this brand, I think that you can get most of their products at Sephora and they offer quite a few products for a multitude of skin needs. This particular product is a gel moisturizer, I am a big fan of gel creams and lotions for day time use. I need a heavier moisturizing product but traditional creams can cause a lot of pore blockage for me if I am wearing them under makeup. I have already used this cream under makeup a couple of times and it wears really nice, keeps my skin hydrated and doesn’t cause my products to pill up. The first ingredient is water and this does feel very watery, once applied it sinks in almost immediately but continues to keep my skin hydrated all day. It does a have a light scent to it, reminds me of clean laundry which isn’t terrible but is unexpected. Overall, I am trying a couple of new gel moisturizers recently and this one is holding its own. The full size retails at $38/1.68 ounces.

First Aid Beauty – Skin Rescue Deep Cleanser with Red Clay – This is a brand that I don’t usually seek out, for sensitive skin it can cause some irritation, in my opinion. I have tried a few of their products and just haven’t really found any that I have been in love with. This is a gel cleanser that is formulated with red clay which is great for deep pore cleaning and removing impurities. It does not contain any artificial fragrances or colours but does smell a little herbal, checking the website this is due to the rosemary that it contains. I used it once and I like it but don’t think it is anything amazing, it works pretty much the same as any product containing clay – very mattifying and it does decongest pores. This product is supposed to be good for normal, oily and combination skin types. The full size retails at $24/4.7 ounces.

YADAH Silky Fit Concealer BB Power Brightening in Light Beige – The product name made me think that this BB would be somewhere in between and foundation and tinted moisturizer as far as coverage. I have used it just once and it did provide pretty decent coverage, I wore it all day and my only complaint is that my pores were pretty visible and I was a tad shiny at the end of the day. However, I do think that this could be fixed with a pore primer and mattifying powder. The shade was actually a decent match for me, looking at their website, I think it only comes in two shades and it does provide SPF. The full size retails at $18.70/1.2 ounces.

SLMissGlam T35 Precise Blending Brush – This is a smaller version of a blending brush that I already own from this brand and really like. The bigger version is very soft and deposits product like a dream, this one is a little stiffer and I had a hard time actually blending with it. I used it to deposit deeper shades along my upper lid and the very outher of my crease but I don’t like it for blending. I do love the colour and I like having another matching brush. I cannot find pricing information for this one, this might be exclusively for Ipsy?

theBalm Cosmetics Eyeshadow in Kuwakaribisha – This is a pale, peach shimmer shadow. I do like the formula of these shadows, I am not impressed with the size of this sample though. I realize that this is a sample bag but the products from theBalm always tend to feel super sampl-y. You can only purchase this as part of the Balm Voyage Vol. 2 Face Palette that retails at $39.50.

That is what came in my bag – overall, I enjoyed this bag and was pleased with the variety of products! What did you get in your bag?

Thanks for stopping by <3
