The Power of Peer Pressure – Lash Paradise

I am getting so ready for Halloween, I found all of the Sleepaway Camp movies this weekend! Total cheeseball horror and I totally love it 😀 I cannot wait to start posting for 31 Nights of Horror! I already have a decent horror collection but I’m picking up a few that I need in my collection. BF vetoed the Child’s Play boxset, those movies scared the pants off of him as a child (direct quote). Anyway, literally me trying to get to know the neighbors:

This mascara has been absolutely everywhere and many are claiming that it is a dupe for the Better Than Sex Mascara. Which, I honestly could care less about that claim, I don’t like that mascara and think that there are loads of better ones out there that aren’t necessarily dupes. I do enjoy trying new mascaras though and thought I’d give the L’Oréal Voluminous Lash Paradise a whirl to see what all of the fuss was about. I accidentally purchased the waterproof tube which is apparently flammable, not something that I generally look for in my mascara. First impressions, the baby pink tube definitely reminds me of the TooFaced BTS and the brush is very similar but this mascara is obviously a way wetter formula. Wet mascaras can either be really great because they don’t clump up as you add more layers or they can fall flat for me, add no volume and smudge. This mascara kinda’ did both, I was able to apply about 6 coats (I really like mascara) and while it didn’t clump, it made my lashes look spidery and not really voluminous like it claimed. The wand is bushy and did a great job at separating and defining my lashes but I like my lashes plumper. I tried this mascara with and without a primer and a primer definitely helps the product build but nowhere near the effect that some of my favourite formulas provide. I did really like how black this formula is, I thought that my eyes looked very defined and like I had more lashes but overall – I don’t see what the fuss is about. Is it a good mascara? Sure, maybe I was just expecting more given all the hype but it was pretty average overall. I like it, I will use it but – meh, I don’t see this replacing any of my mascaras any time soon! Also, I wouldn’t recommend the waterproof – it did this weird chunking thing when I was removing it and it was just a mess. I used my TooFaced lash oil and micellar water and it was still a disaster.

When I was wearing it, I told the BF that I was finally trying out this mascara that everyone was raving about to which his response was, Define everyone. I’m not raving about it. Can’t argue with that logic, people 😛 At any rate, it is definitely affordable and depending on what you want from your mascara – this could work for you. Have you tried it?

This brush is fabulous though.

Thanks for stopping by <3

I only tried TFBTS mascara recently and I’m underwhelmed. I have yet to try the L’Oreal Lash Paradise but I think my expectations have been lowered now that I understand what TFBTS is about.
That’s a funny comment your BF made! 😛 “everyone”

Right?! So many people claim that is a holy grail mascara for them! It just didn’t do anything for me. I think that the Lash Paradise is a good mascara but not as amazing as it has been hyped up to be. Haha, teach me to use hyperbole again 🙂

I did not like the Better Than Sex mascara at all (it was meh), but am currently loving this, but I know quite a few people who have hated it. I think it might have something to do with lash type? Mine are naturally long and curl up so all I am looking for is volume and I feel like that is really what this does.

That could be! It just didn’t do anything for me, my lashes are fairly straight and I could see this working for someone with curly lashes!!

Yea, I should have skipped it considering that it was being labeled a dupe for a mascara I don’t like. Oh well. Lot’s of people love that mascara, just doesn’t work for me!
