31 Nights of Horror – Rocky Horror Picture Show

I remember just being in total awe of this movie, what a feast for the eyes. It makes almost no sense but it’s a musical, comedy, horror so pretty much all of my favourite things. A young republican couple (this isn’t actually said but one can assume) Brad Majors and Janet Weiss (Susan Sarandon) find themselves with a flat tire, in a deluge, in the middle of nowhere. Seeking help, they stumble upon a creepy manor house where the Annual Transylvanian Convention is being hosted (did I mention this is taking place in Ohio). Everyone attending the convention is wearing outlandish garb, behaving strangely and things only get more weird when the couple is introduced Dr. Frank N Furter, a self-proclaimed sweet transvestite from Transsexual, Transylvania. As a 13 year old, I had no idea what any of this meant but I was definitely like, yes – yes, all of this!

Frank is a mad scientist of sorts who has created a being, Rocky and brought him to life. Then Meatloaf aka Eddie, bursts in on a motorcycle – Frank kills him in a jealous rage when he tries to seduce Rocky. There’s a lot of seduction of pretty much everyone after this, there are some more musical numbers, Tim Curry wears fishnets – it’s a good time. Then some of the Transylvanians turn out to be aliens and blast off in the manor.

Just watch it, I have seen it at least a hundred times and still can’t clearly explain what a delight this movie is. I love Tim Curry in this role, he just brought so much energy and passion (and body-ody-ody) to the role. Susan Sarandon is also pretty adorable – such a good movie!

Thanks for stopping by ❤
