Or holiday if you’d rather, I personally celebrate Christmas and that’s what I’ll use. Anyway, I found this tag via The Enthusiast and what better way to kick off Blogmas than with a bunch of festive, albeit cliche questions?! If you want to do this tag too, I would love to read your responses so be sure to tag me!
National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, not everyone’s cup of tea but this movie reminds me of our family Christmases growing up – pure mayhem.
I have almost always had a white Christmas, I actually get really anxious if we don’t have snow around Thanksgiving – which we don’t, currently and it’s 50 degrees outside so there’s that.
At home! But I would like to take a Christmas vacation some day, not to a warmer climate or anything but just a winter trip.
Erg…I am not big into Christmas songs – all of those years of retail really turned me off to them. Anything classical is fine or musical soundtracks, they don’t even really have to be Christmas songs.
Absolutely not – what blasphemy! Do people do this? I mean, maybe with small kids but otherwise no!
Of course! Can we talk about Comet for a second? I am sure that it is supposed to be more related to actual comets like Hyakutake but as a kid, I associated it with the bathroom cleaner which obviously leads one straight to vomit – what a terrible name.
I mean, the tree is up – what more do you want from me? I am not a traditional person, I like to watch holiday movies and wrap presents but I cannot think of anything specific that we do that could be called a tradition. Cookies, I do bake a ton of cookies.
Fake, we live in an apartment and we actually get a really bitchy letter each year reminding everyone that real trees are not permitted. It surprises me for some reason when I see people driving home with a tree lashed to their vehicle, I don’t know why.
Baked brie and cranberry topping, I think there is a fancier name for it than that 😛 Baked Brie en Croute is the proper name!
Giving, not to brag, but I am pretty great at giving gifts. I actually get a weird thrill out of giving someone exactly what they wanted knowing that they can’t reciprocate. That’s weird, right? I am probably a sociopath, not like I haven’t been telling everyone that for literally years.
Hrrrmmmmm…we received a Toboggan when I was a kid, it just felt like such a traditional gift and I don’t think that I have ever received anything that really captured the ethereal idea of Christmas since. I also have a lovely, hand embroidered stocking that I really love but I don’t recall receiving that – it was given to me when I was very small.
New York! Rockefeller Center, ice skating, The Nutcracker, holiday window displays – I just need to experience it one day.
Of course, I have a fondness for really gorgeous wrapping paper. I went through a phase where I used plain craft paper and painstakingly embellish the packages with sequins. I got past that, I just purchase regular paper now 😀
It still has to be the year that I put my teeth through my gums, talk about a blood bath. Somehow we thought that we could get away with not telling our parents 😀 I have 4 veneers and a dental implant thanks to that little accident – still worth it though.
In all honesty, we didn’t do the whole Santa thing because we celebrate the religious side of the holiday rather than go the Santa route. I think that is more for secular celebrators, I don’t know how you can have a completely secular Christmas but I assume that people do it…? Or maybe there are those that celebrate both, no idea.
Each year I resolve to be a good person, still trying to keep that one. I feel like I am generally good person but I could always be a better person.
It isn’t anything tangible that makes the holidays special for me, it is the feeling in the air, the hum of people bustling about, the way that everything looks clean and bright under snow and all lit up. As cynical as I am and for as little faith that I have in mankind, we can pretend for a few weeks that peace on Earth is a thing.
Whatever you are doing and however you celebrate, I hope that you have a wonderful holiday season!
Thanks for stopping by ❤
