On the 4th Day of Blogmas – Favourite Christmas Treat

large_christmas-ornamentsI don’t know if this is actually my favourite treat but it is definitely the one that I remember most from my childhood. This dessert has got to be straight out of the 50’s along with Sara Lee pound cake and probably as nutritious as a spoonful of lard but it wouldn’t be Christmas without…

I drain the pineapple and cherries but add the juice from the oranges, it helps meld everything together without getting the marshmallows too soggy. I have used crushed pineapple before too and that adds just enough moisture to the dish. med_ornament-setWe didn’t use Cool-Whip or prepped whipped cream as a kid, we bought whipping cream and whipped it. We didn’t have an electric beater so we did this by hand, talk about a nightmare. Electric beaters did in fact exist when I was a child, we just didn’t have one for some reason 😀 This dish definitely does not keep so everyone will have to take a heap 😛

If I make it this year, I will be sure to take a pic! What’s your favourite holiday treat?

Thanks for stopping by ❤

  1. I bet I could eat it all by myself. This sounds delicious! I’m definitely making this and I’ll take a pic when I do. Nice and simple. I never heard of this before either.

    • Haha! Well, let me know if you do. We had it every year when I was a kid but I only make it once in awhile now days. Good luck 😄
