Best Of's

Best of December

I hope that everyone had a safe and happy New Year! It is crisp and cold here but very sunny so I can’t complain – winter is my favourite season after all. Today I have gathered my fave products for the month of December, this post is a perfect example of picking new products as favourites which again, is fine but I’m really making an effort to use up my oldie faves this year too. Anyway, here are some products that I was loving this month.

Up until a couple months ago, I only used sponges to apply my foundation but after watching a tutorial that explained how a sponge can make your base look like a mask, I got curious about brushes. I have been using the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush and it does a fantastic job at applying my foundation and providing just the right amount of coverage. After enjoying this brush so much, I also picked up their Powder Brush which also applies product evenly and flawlessly. These are great brushes that are also super affordable – I am digging the orange and they stand up on their own bases.

Embryolisse Lait-Creme Concentre – I found a teenie tube of this on a random display in Target and snatched it up, I love the creme but it isn’t sold in the US. I think it smells like lilacs, it is very emollient and hydrating. Imagine my delight when I found a big tube at the same Target a few weeks later, I hope that they are going to start carrying this brand!

I enjoy all of the L’Oreal Clay Masks that I have tried but the green one has been my go to. It has eucalyptus, it works really well for redness and it isn’t terribly drying.

Two more recent finds at the drugstore, the Fit Me, Dewy and Smooth foundation from Maybelline and Lumi Glotion by L’Oreal. The foundation has an SPF of 18 which is pretty decent but it does make my eyes water, I wish I could find a sunscreen that didn’t do that. Also, the shade is a bit pink for me (115 Ivory) but it works once I have concealer and powder on. It gives a nice finish, it isn’t drying and has been working for my dry skin. I will try a shade lighter if they have one but I do like it. The Glotion I have been using as an all-over face primer, I don’t think that it adds hydration but it certainly doesn’t hurt. I have 901 and 902, Fair Glow and Light Glow. The fair shade is a pearly pink that I have been using more often, the light shade just gives me a bit too much of a bronze look but I think it will be perfect for summer. They make my skin look and feel healthy and glowy.

I have found my must-have highlighter, after I swore off trying any new highlighters. The Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Beauty Light Wand is perfect, it imparts a dewy, champagne glow that is easy to apply and lasts all day. This product is very easy to use, I have pressed it over powder and it didn’t disturb my base at all. I love this product.

I just found out that FLOWER Beatuy by Drew Barrymore is going to be available at ULTA which is awesome because I love this brand and it can be hard to find in stores. On one of my last Wal-Mart outings, I picked up the Flower Pot Blush in Warm Hibiscus which is a pretty pink with a bit of an iridescent shift. It’s a unique shade, I have been wearing it almost everyday. This formula is so easy to layer, you can add just a touch of colour or go full clown-face, totally your call 😀

Some swatches of the blusher and highlight:

Finally, Mario Badescu released a new face mist and I had to try it. I wasn’t as crazy about the Green Tea flavour as I am the Rose so wasn’t sure I would like the new Aloe, Chamomile & Lavender but it is lovely and definitely a new staple.

Those were my picks for the month – what were you loving this month?

Thanks for stopping by <3
