Skin Care

Punny, right 😛 I sometimes use memes in everyday conversation, I cannot be the only one who does this. Some coworkers asked me if I wanted to go to happy hour and I said, No, I have a meeting with some watermelons. Everyone looked at my like I was nuts, I was being sarcastic and I don’t like making excuses and that was as good a reason as any other. I mean, come on people – do you even internet?!

When I first started talking about my Korean Skincare journey, essences were one of the steps that I often left off because I hadn’t found one that I liked or really felt was doing anything. I’ll be honest and say that the essence that I have been using during the day is much more like a serum in my opinion but it says essence and I’m going with it. This particular essence is from Mizon’s Pore Refine line, it’s the Pore Refine Silky Essence and it’s definitely in my top 3 favourite products that I have tried from a Korean brand so far.

First off, 10 points for packaging, the bottle is a lovely glass marine blue-green with a nice pump. I paid $18 for 1.7 ounces of product which is pretty affordable if you compare to similar products from western brands. This essence claims to tighten pores, control sebum and boost skin elasticity. Unfortunately, I cannot find an ingredient list that is in English but it does list that it is formulated without parabens or artificial coloring. Is it made with snail mucin? I cannot say for sure but I hope not. The texture is like any other serum, thin and emollient and the scent is faintly lemony. I have said it before that I don’t believe that there are many products out there that physically shrink pores but this serum does make my skin appear a lot smoother. It’s super hydrating but when it dries down, it almost has a powder finish which makes my skin look amazing. I love how quick-absorbing this product is, when you have like 6 other steps to get through, it is definitely a pain waiting for everything to absorb but my skin just soaks this up. This wears well under makeup and doesn’t bother my skin. Again, I don’t know what’s in it but I do think that it has helped to promote clearer skin. I don’t have a ton of breakouts anyway but this doesn’t hurt! I really like this product and will definitely keep it in permanent rotation!

Thanks for stopping by <3
