First Impression Friday – LA Girl

My pharmacy takes 45 minutes to fill anything, I could ask for a bottle of Aspirin and it would require at least half an hour to produce. I don’t get it but I think it’s a scheme to get people to shop while they are waiting and it works. I was dinking around and came upon an LA Girl display and feel like this brand gets pretty good reviews plus it was on BOGO so I grabbed a couple of items. I literally grabbed two eyeliner pencils, one brown and one dark brown because I’m a jerk. I just never know what to try when it comes to new brands…

    First Ever e.l.f Purchase

And it’s a lip gloss, because I am just lame like that but I have heard that this brand can be very hit and miss and the gloss was the only item on the display that I had heard rave reviews about. Lip glosses are surprisingly hard for brands to do in my opinion. You have your sloppy, sticky, goopy mess of a gloss, glosses or the gritty gloss, the runny gloss – there is a surprising amount of variety when it comes to glosses. I am not a gloss gal per say but I do wear them when I get a hankering. There were three shades, I chose Champagne…

    Best of Brushes

I have one spray bottle that disperses the perfect amount of product so after I try a new face mist in its original packaging, I will more than likely end up dumping it into my favourite spray bottle. I dump in small amounts from almost finished bottles so that I can chuck the package out as well so I tend to end up with some interesting concoctions. I don’t know what all I have in there right now but it’s amazing, I probably have about 8’ish different mists, I wish I could remember so that I could have this mix on hand all of the time. I have been wanting…

    Going Self-Hosted…!

I just read this fascinating article about the ‘people rental’ business in Japan and am somehow not shocked at all that this is a thing! I mean, I am somewhat surprised that some of the available rentals are infants (it sounds like they are accompanied by their parents) but I can totally understand the niche that this service satisfies. The extremes that people will go to in an effort to cultivate a perfect image is unsettling but a stand in mom for those who have lost their own? A kid to take to the movies, a grandmother to take flowers to – people have found a way to have human…

Monday Must Have – MadeCera Cream

I am not super good at sticking to these catchy series and usually just bust them out when I can’t think of a good title so don’t expect anything from me 😛 I talked about this cream from SkinRx Labs in a monthly favorites post a couple of months ago and I love it even more now than I did then. This cream claims to restore damaged, dehydrated and sensitive skin. It’s packed with a cocktail of fermented ceramides as well as centella asiatica extract which is good for redness and niacinamide to fight fine line and signs of aging. I still cannot say that I am totally sold on…

    On a Sunday

Chilling with the cats, watching The Strain and nothing to blog about. I was going to do a round-up of my favourite makeup brushes but they are all dirty because I use them everyday 😛 So, we’ll just have a random post for this evening. And I’m less than happy about it. First off, allergies. Second, anyone with a square-foot of lawn and a power tool of some kind will now be in their yard dinking around until October. What are they doing? Who knows, they don’t even know. I don’t get the yard concept, we lay waste to acres of naturally occurring vegetation to build rows of pre-fab homes…

    Bedroom Update

I think that the bedroom is done, or at least as far as what I wanted to with it. The BF still has a corner where he has a bunch of random shit but it seems organized. I’m still side-eying it. I didn’t take any ‘Before’ pictures because I didn’t think that I would be talking about this on my blog but here are some ‘After’ pictures and I can share the major changes. First, we used to have two side tables and now he just has the one. I completely emptied mine and it’s up for sale currently, if it doesn’t get picked up this month then I will…

First Impression Friday – Fix + Shimmer

We are trying to watch the movie Mother but I can’t get into it because J-Law being married to Javier Bardem just seems incredibly unrealistic. How old is he? I Googled it, 49, which is way younger than I thought but still. That voice, what is that? I have used the new MAC shimmer Fix+ that I picked up a couple of days ago a few times now and I have some thoughts. Mostly, disappointed thoughts. I chose Pinklite because I use the pink tube of the Strobe Cream and figured that this would best match my skintone. In the bottle, the liquid is milky, shimmery and iridescent so one…

    Mad Fashion

I just read this 10,000 word article about how to quit Facebook and I’m at a loss as to why 1) This article was necessary and 2) Why it was so long. The assumption is that quitting Facebook is hard and suddenly you won’t have the same access to your friends and family and my GOD – you might have to go back to communicating in methods that existed pre-2005. The insanity. It’s not that fucking hard, just delete your profile – I can almost guarantee that nothing bad will happen. I still read the article though so who am I to judge? I started the first season of Mad…

    Pixi Picks for Glowing Skin

Mad Men has to be one of my favourite shows, the story lines can be borderline but I like the costumes, retro Madison Avenue, the music. Plus the cast is stacked but I recently found out that Jon Hamm really was an alcoholic! He went to rehab while still playing the role of Don Draper, this is probably old news but I make a point of not reading or listening to any news pieces about the private lives of celebrities. There’s too much profit to be had when human suffering is the ware and I just don’t think it’s right. My best gal pal told me this and I am…
