One of the most raved about mascaras to come out of the drugstore in the last year now has a companion primer and you better believe that I had to give it a go! I mentioned recently that I don’t really believe in primers and I stand by that unless it is a lash primer which is typically the exact opposite of how everyone else feels. Most of my gal pals don’t get why I love lash primers so much but they are an absolute staple for my makeup routine. Lash primers can be very nourishing for the lashes, they plump the lashes, they can enhance the durability and longevity of your mascara and I find that mascara is more easily removed when I wear it over a primer which is great for me because I have very sensitive eyes. I have also found new love for some mascaras that I couldn’t wear when I use them with a primer, I truly think that lash primer does make a difference.
I have used just about every lash primer out there, my current one has been the L’Oreal Voluminous Primer and I do really like that one but saw the new Lash Paradise Primer and went with that instead. There were a couple of things that intrigued me about this primer, one big thing, that is completely shallow is that it is pink and looks almost identical to Givenchy Base Mascara Perfecto which is amazing but burns this shit out of my eyes. The textures looked extremely similar and the Lash Paradise also claims to thicken and nourish your lashes. The packaging is identical to the matching mascara, fairly lightweight but not overly cheap feeling for an $8 product. Oh, and the wand! The wand on this primer is curvaceous and fluffy and everything that I want on my lashes.
First impressions, I thought that this product applied clumpier than what I am used to but mascara applied without issue over top of it. It definitely plumped up my lashes, I used two coats of primer and 3 coats of mascara which was less than I would normally do but felt that was all that I needed. It didn’t feel particularly sticky given how goopy it seemed but there were no issue with flaking or smearing. I love the way that it wears, washing it off was another story, I had to use waterproof makeup remover to get all of my mascara off today. The only benefit of that is this primer obviously extends the wear time of whatever you put over it. It didn’t burn my eyes, there is no scent and overall, I really like it! I wore it over the matching mascara today but will continue to try it out over other mascara formulas to see how it does!
