Show Me Your Empties

May Trash Talk

I am changing the title of my monthly empties posts to Trash Talk because it’s corny and vaguely 90’s. I am not going to post my faves for May because I only had two products that were new to my faves and all of the others, I had definitely posted about before – I will just save everything for June! I didn’t have too bad of a month for using things up in May and am slowly but surely reducing my products which feels great. Let’s get started!

Wet ‘n Wild PhotoFocus Matte Primer – I think this is a great everyday, lightweight primer that provides a decent amount of pore smoothing without feeling super silicone-y. The consistency is more similar to your basic lotion than anything else and I find myself using this more than any of my other high-end primers.

L’Oreal Voluminous Lash Primer – Eh, this was OK, I picked it up to try something new and I liked it but it wasn’t anything special.

BareMinerals Original Foundation – I have been using this for the added SPF and I forgot how long this doesn’t last! It is hard to gauge how much I am using in comparison to liquid foundation but I definitely feel like I go through this way too fast. I like it though, the undertone is a bit too yellow but since I am only wearing it over another foundation, it isn’t terribly noticeable.

DHC Deep Cleansing Oil – I really like this brand, it is a Japanese brand and their products are effective and affordable. This oil is on the heavier side, it dissolves and removes all of my makeup and doesn’t leave a residue. It is formulated with antioxidants and tons of great ingredients, it will burn the shit out of your eyes but other than that, I really like it. I have a couple of oil cleansers to use up but will repurchase this as my main product when the time comes.

Charlotte Tilbury Goddess Skin Clay Mask – I really like this mask, this was my last sample but I don’t think I will purchase the full-size any time soon. The price point is a tad ridiculous and until I use up the masks that I have, I can’t justify purchasing it. I am always amazed at how soft my skin feels after using this product and I know it has a ton of good ingredients in it, it is a total treat to use.

Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser – I didn’t think that this cleanser was anything special when I first started using but it definitely grew on me. It feels like petroleum jelly which suits my dry skin really well, it removes makeup really well and it doesn’t burn my eyes. This is definitely one of their products that everyone should try!

ROC Daily Resurfacing Discs – Another completely random purchase, I picked these up on Black Friday when this brand was on mega sale at ULTA and have been hooked ever since. I use these about 5 times a week with a more potent peel in-between, they definitely help with texture and brightening my complexion. A tub is only about 8 bucks, very worth it – this brand also goes on BOGO quite often and I have already stocked up on these.

pixi Glow Peel Pads – Another affordable, potent product that I really enjoy. These are like Glow-Tonic on steroids that should only be used a couple of times a week at most.I would definitely repurchase, they are great for resurfacing, brightening and clearing up breakouts.

Shiseido Benefiance Night Emulsion – This is a great product, it is a tad on the heavier side for an emulsion by my dry skin loved it. It does smell like baby lotion and I didn’t love that but it didn’t irritate my skin. It is definitely softening, I love the product but the packaging of this entire brand annoys the piss out of me. Being a Japanese brand, I don’t think that they make a single component that is recyclable which is bizarre when you consider the strict recycling laws that Japan enforces. I won’t be repurchasing anything from this brand until they stop it with the asinine waste.

eva nyc Main Magic Primer – Love it, hope to be able to find it at another retailer since my local ULTA has stopped carrying it.

Neogen Real Ferment Micro Essence – I am still not totally sold on the essence thing completely, I like the Klair’s one but mostly because it has a more gelatinous texture and it feels like something. This one just felt like water, I didn’t really notice if it did anything or not, it was fine but not something I will run out to repurchase.

CosRX Salicylic Acid Cleanser – Love this stuff, already repurchased.

Laneige Clear C Peeling Mask – Another peel product, not the most potent that I have used but it does work. The only thing that I found less than enjoyable about this product was the seed bits in it, they weren’t super irritating but they were a pain to wash off and did feel scratchy. I won’t be repurchasing immediately as I have so many other peels on hand at the moment but it was nice.

That’s it, another month where I wish that I had used up more makeup but at least I have been reducing the skincare that I have around. Thanks for stopping by <3
