Friday Favourites

I’m stuck inside on a Friday night because severe weather, good thing I have 900 candles on hand othat I should probably start lighting now just in case. Before the power or internet goes out, here’s a little reading material!

Unpopular opinion – I never understood why people were so enamored with Steve Jobs like there wasn’t a whole team of brainy people backing him up. This article solidifies my less than glowing sentiments.

I am sick and tired of hearing about climate change, I am tired of reading study after study about how it’s only getting worse. Someone needs to get serious about climate change, start taking away some freedoms, just do it, do something. In the meantime, here’s yet another depressing but well written piece on the peril facing the plant and ultimately mankind.

I still have a bone to pick with my parents about the whole not being wealthy thing, this summer camp sounds amazing. But also, the illuminati symbolism is not lost on me…

I am a bit young to recall anything of the AIDS epidemic, though they may not be perfect homages to the tragedy, I’d like to see some of these memorials.

Gosh, what I would do to be Gwyneth.

Uhhhh…I’m gonna have to go ahead and disagree with you there Pope. I’m sorry, I realize that he is enlightened and full of shit the Holy Spirit but there are crimes that only subhumans would commit and therefore should not be shown the mercy and graciousness of humanity. I mean, I’ve spent the majority of my life sitting in mass every Sunday and I’ve learned that most Catholics believe that the majority of people are deserving of the death penalty, I think he’s a little out of touch.

That’s all I’ve got – most of the other news that I read was mostly just depressing and it seemed inappropriate to make fun. Have a beautiful weekend!

I’m confused by the Catholic faith. If they read the Bible, where does it say death penalty is deserving by mans own hand?
I’m really curious, not being sarcastic.

The Catholic faith is confusing even to Catholics 🙂 I’m probably exaggerating a bit when I say most modern Catholics believe in the death penalty but probably not by much. The church has a bloody history of killing people for simply not being Catholic, I’m sure other religions do as well but these leaders deal with it in the wrong way, in my opinion. This current one especially keeps making statements that I’m positive most of the congregation and leaders don’t agree. I dunno, it seems hypocritical. He can say whatever he wants but they are just words.

Sounds like a confusing walk in faith. I don’t know, I’m not so accepting of the pope. It’s been an unsettling concept about having a pope oversee religion. When I feel Jesus walked not for religion, but to being followers to the Kingdom of God. He didn’t even in old worn clothing and torn sandals.

I honestly think that there is so much about the Catholic church that is rooted in antiquated ritual that has little or nothing to with actual scripture that it will one day cease to exist. The younger generations aren’t having it, there’s just too much hypocrisy!
