So, I put my Halloween decor up and some people might think that it’s too soon, I can respect that. A 3-month Halloween celebration might not be for everyone, no I take it all down on November 1. Or do I? I mean, you’d really never know, that shit could be up all year. Anyway, what I can’t respect and made me lose my shit while scrolling through social media is that brands are already releasing or at least issuing 2018 advent calendars. Are you kidding me!? Then I realized that it’s just about that time of year when brands start releasing all of their holiday collections and I figured before the frenzy begins and we are inundated with limited edition-this and mini-that, it would be the perfect time for an anti-haul!
This one hurts a little, Sugarpill Cosmetics teamed up with legend, icon, star Trixie Mattel to release a limited edition collection. Trixie is my favourite drag queen, no contest and while I would love to support her brand, this collection is so boring. The thing with Trixie is that her looks are fairly boring but painted on in such a way that she appears larger than life. You could get a very Trixie look with this palette but I would just use it for the same ol’ boring work looks. I guess I don’t know what I was expecting but I was disappointed. There are loads of other Trixie fans out there and I am sure that it will sell out with no help from me 😛
Do the ads for Charlotte Tilbury products make anyone else feel a little uncomfortable. I’m like, what you are you selling me? Then, most of the time we don’t even end up finding out because it was just a teaser. She’s adding a new quad and blusher to the Pillow Talk collection which consists of a lippie and liner, currently. I don’t get the hype around the lipstick first of all and I can’t say that I was very impressed with the summer eye-shadow quad that I picked up which is very similar to the new quad. I am torn on this brand, the price point makes me think that everything is going to be good but the performance is all over the place, in my opinion. The duo will retail for $93…which is what it would cost to purchase them each separate…? I get it, if you want to feel decadent and fauncy this brand makes you feel like you’re Victoria Beckham but it’s a treat.
This palette has me a little bitter, the fact that it was originally released as LE and is now back permanently is just annoying. It’s not because I want anyone to miss out on what I am sure is a stunning palette but $129 is too much to be trifling with people like this. Do people say trifling anymore? I just think it’s so lame and the new release has apparently been reformulated. What about all of the people who clamored to own the original and are stuck with the old formula that I am assuming was improved upon? It just makes it feel like a money grab, I purchased the Star Palette which I don’t think has ever been reformulated and I’m curious to see how it performs. I mean, it’s a lot of cash to fork over for a formula that could be improved upon.
Gag. Let me elaborate, actually no, that’s it.
This was the very first palette that I owned, not the first eye-shadow but I feel like this kicked off the palette craze. I chucked mine out ages ago because the formula isn’t great, I don’t really like the UD formula overall. I won’t purchase it for half-price and I certainly won’t repurchase it when they reformulate it and re-release it in a few months. Just wait and see.
I have always wanted to own one of these Ambient Lighting palettes but I know that I only have one skin tone and wouldn’t be able to use all of the shades. That doesn’t bother me as much with less costly palettes but I definitely hesitate at 80 bucks for 2, maybe 3 pans that I could use.
I feel like they already did the planner thing (and it was a terrible idea then)? I dunno, these giant holiday collections are just too overwhelming and I wouldn’t use them on the regular. I think that their Gingerbread Palette looks cute but I always hesitate with their limited edition releases after being burned with the Nikkie Tutorials collab that I just had to have.
Sigh, what do you think – am I just being a scrooge? Do holiday collections usually come out this early? Also, if you are really looking forward to adding any of these to your collection, do you 🙂
Oh, I almost forgot, I am also anti-hauling all things velvet because it’s apparently back and I always want to jump on that trend but look like a complete doofus in velvet. Wearing velvet makes me look like I am trying to wear a slightly more acceptable version of velour but it’s really just poshed up velour, isn’t it 😛
