Vintage Inspired Christmas Decor

I haven’t been on here the last two days because I’ve been busy and by busy, I’ve been sleeping. Actually, I had to do a big grocery shop on Thursday for Thanksgiving and it takes me an unacceptable amount of time to complete this task then get home and put it all away. I’m preparing a huge appetizer spread for any of my local friends who want to come over since I didn’t make plans to go home this year and I work all next weekend anyway. I’m making soft pretzels, toasted tortellini, baked cheese, caprese skewers, artichoke dip, spinach and cheese taquitos – just a bunch of junk food mostly. Then last night, I went to Hobby Lobby because their 50% off of Christmas decor ends today and I wasn’t about to set foot in there on a Saturday because I’d end up headbutting a toddler. Nobody expects a 31 year old woman to headbutt a small child but joke’s on them ๐Ÿ˜› It was still packed on a Friday night and I’m like, who are all of these crafty losers at Hobby Lobby on a Friday night? Oh yea, me. They had so much beautiful Christmas decor, it was very overwhelming but I managed to find a few perfect new additions for the tree that I am planning for my bedroom. I should probably save this post for Blogmas but I’ll post again when all of my decor is out as the new tree hasn’t even arrived yet, this is the one that I picked:

I went 5-feet because my room isn’t huge and I didn’t pick a pre-lit tree because they just don’t come with enough lights on them and I want this bitch iced. Martha Stewart says that you need 100 lights per foot and a half of tree, so I ordered like 5 strands and I think it’s going to be too much but we’ll see. I’m doing a vintage inspired pastel pink tree with lots or mercury glass and kitsch. I’ve always wanted to do a pink-fantasy theme but my living room isn’t neutral enough for it, my room is perfect though. I have collected a number of pastel decor pieces over the years but haven’t used them, I’m so excited to use them this year! Here’s a little peek at what I found last night.

This is a set of six medium’ish pink, mercury glass with snowflake accents.

This is a set of eight smaller ornaments, I feel like I should have grabbed two boxes of these because they are smaller but I want to get everything on the tree before I go back for more. I have boxes of ornaments for my main tree that never get used because I didn’t consult Martha on the appropriate number of ornaments the first year that I had my own place.

My final mercury glass pick is these jumbo-sized set of four for some accent ornaments.

Of course I had to purchase a giant can of ornaments, I think the retro teals will balance all of the pink that I have.

My last find of the evening is actually from Michael’s, I chose two strands of garland that had the retro colors and shapes that I was looking for.

Now, these are actually one of my retro inspired sets that I picked up from Target last year and they are going to be so perfect! I regret being such a cheap-ass and not purchasing two boxes but $20 for 10 ornaments?! Also, these are aren’t shatter proof and my cats are nuts.

I cannot wait to get my room set up, the living room is done and I will post all of my decor for Blogmas! Are you getting ready for Christmas or what holidays do you celebrate? Let me know what you are up to for Thanksliving too, I hope you have a beautiful weekend.

Itโ€™s gonna be so pretty! I donโ€™t think 5 strands is too many. I also like my tree bright. I do color with double the bright blue. Saw it on the big tree on the New Haven green one year and loved it. Will your tree be seen through a window? I love looking up at my house and seeing the tree glowing like a neon sign. Your ornaments are going to look great. Youโ€™ve got vision. Have fun decorating !

Thank you ๐Ÿ˜˜ I figure you can’t have too many lights right?! That sounds lovely, it’s always a treat to see everyone’s creativity in their decor. My neighbors to the west of me will definitely be able to see it. I love a Christmas tree filled window too ๐Ÿ˜Š

Ooh, yes, please! Gosh, I’ve wanted a pink tree for years now. A couple of seasons back one of the local lumber yards had multi-coloured trees, but the pink one they had was hot, lurid pink, and I’m looking for something in the rose pink range. Christmas tree goals!

Haha – I’ve always wanted to know who buys those hot pink and bright purple trees ๐Ÿ˜‚ It’s a little more than I’m willing to commit to but I’d love to see one in action. Yes! I’m very excited ๐Ÿ–ค

You made the right choice! Our prelit tree’s lights went out on the top third of the tree a few days before Christmas and it was the one time we were going to host for the holidays! My sister luckily ran out on her day off and bought extras (our tree is white and all our extra lights had green wires) so now we’re prepared for an emergency but it was quite unfortunate! Also, love the bulbs, I think it’s going to look great!

Haha – oh no! I have a fairly new prelit tree that goes in the living room and I am just waiting for the day that I plug it in and it doesn’t light up! Thank you, I can’t wait to get it all set up ๐Ÿ™‚

Hahaha. I am laughing at the thought of you headbutting a toddler and the fact that you consult Martha Stewart on how to decorate. ๐Ÿ˜‚ I love love love those vintage inspired ornaments you got from Target and everything else is super cute, too! I cannot wait to see how it all turns out!

Kids though, I tell ya! I feel sorry for them in stores like Hobby Lobby – they’re freaking out because they are overstimulated. It’s not their fault but I’d still headbutt one ๐Ÿ˜‚ She knows everything! Seriously, ask Martha. I will post about once I get it all set up ๐Ÿ˜˜
