Blogmas Day 25: Best of 2018

I hope that you had a lovely Christmas, for my final Blogmas post I rounded up all of the products that I really loved in 2018. Many of these items are a part of my daily routine that I have repurchased numerous times, enjoy!

Scripterialism Regular

pixi Peel & PolishThis is a potent enzyme peel that I use once or twice a week depending on if my skin is behaving or not. It helps with breakouts and texture and it’s not terribly expensive.

Missha Flash-UpHands down the best sunscreen that I have ever used, it doesn’t break me out and works as the perfect luminous base for foundation. It also looks nice worn alone as the luminous properties help to even skintone and provide a little color correction.

tarte Maracuja OilI’ve used a number of face oils, this one is deeply hydrating but doesn’t clog my pores. I like to wear it at night and also under my foundation when my skin is feeling extremely dry.

Charlotte Tilbury Magic CreamStill the best daytime cream that is rich and moisturizing but not too heavy to be worn during the day. This cream makes my skin look flawless under foundation, my only gripe remains that I have to switch it out every so often because it can break me out.

Kate Somerville ExfoliKate CleanserI only just started using this in the fall but I’m hooked, it’s a fairly mild exfoliating cleanser that is formulated with AHA’s and fruit enzymes, it’s mildness is what makes it perfect for daily use. I also love that it smells like fruit loops and makes my face feel so smooth every time I use it.

Neutrogena Cleansing TowelettesI’m not big into cleaning cloths because they generally don’t remove all of my makeup but these are awesome. I’ve been using them before my oil cleanse and my face feels perfectly cleansed. These are the fragrance free ones and they don’t irritate my eyes or skin in general. I wish that they were compostable but that’s my only complaint so far.

Mario Badescu Rosewater Facial SprayStill my favorite flavor, I always have this spray on hand and use a number of times a day.

Halo Beauty Kiwi Seed Booster – I definitely saw an improvement to my dry skin and itchy patches since having started using this supplement. I know it’s stupid expensive for what it is but I think it’s worth it given the relief that it has given me with some of my skin issues.

Dr. Dennis Gross Peel Pads These two-step peel sachets have made a huge difference in the texture of my skin, I use them most every day for an instant complexion boost.

Scripterialism Regular

There were a number of palettes that I was using on the regular this past year, including ones from KKW Beauty, Melt Cosmetics, ColourPop, MAC and Dose of Colors. A good palette to me includes enough shades for a number of diverse looks, is easy to blend and lasts all day. Most of the palettes that I use are pretty neutral but also include pops of color for numerous unique looks. KKW Beauty and Melt Cosmetics tied for best, buildable formula that is super easy to work with. I just discovered MAC shadows this year and I am obsessed, they are so consistent and easy to use, I like them for quick everyday looks but you can also achieve dramatic looks with them as well.

Scripterialism Regular

tarte Chrome Paint PotsWhen I first picked these up, I totally didn’t get it and actually gave them a really poor review. I think the trick to these, for me at least, is to put them down over unset concealer or eyeshadow primer and then use matte shadows over top to build dimension. When I tried to apply them as highlight over matte shadows, they didn’t stick and flaked a bunch. Using the wet base technique, these are stunning and add so much shimmer and shine to your eyes.

Flower Beauty Warrior GlitterThese are amazing, I actually prefer them to the Stila glitters because they build so much better and don’t patch up. I like to lay down an all-matte base and then press these all over my eyelid, so good.

Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Beauty Highlighter Wand – The sponge-tip applicator aside, this is a really stunning highlight that is subtle but provides plenty glow. I like to apply it to the high points of my face after primer but before foundation, it imparts a lit from within glow that I enjoy – it is stupid expensive but there’s definitely a reason that it’s sold out!

MAC Soft & Gentle Mineralize Skin Finish –  I was apparently all about the glitter and glow this year, these powders enhance the finish of any foundation and add a soft-focus veil to the complexion. I wish that it came in a jumbo size because I tend to fly through these compacts.

All of my favorite blushers were from the drugstore this year, Flower Beauty, Wet ‘n’ Wild and Burt’s Bees all have beautiful formulas in number of wearable shades.

Cover FX Perfect Setting PowderNon-drying, lightweight and long-wearing, it is truly the perfect powder.

Catrice Prime & Fine Setting SpraysThere are all good, I love the different finishes and the price is amazing.

tarte Shape Tape ConcealerWe won’t spend a lot of time here because who doesn’t love this super full coverage concealer?

The only two lash products that I was reaching for weretarte’s Lights, Camera, Lashes and the Lash Paradise Primer from L’Oreal – this combo creates the perfect, voluminous, black lashes.

Cover FX Anti-Aging PrimerThis is a lovely primer that moisturizers, smooths texture and fine lines and keeps makeup intact for 8+ hours.

Scripterialism Regular

Aside from a couple of Wayne Goss brushes, my entire collection is made up of Real Techniques because they are great quality. They have loads of different shapes and sizes, they wash really well and I love their limited edition collections.

The only hair product that I really fell in love with this year is the IGK Rich Kid Coconut Gel, it’s lightweight but adds enough texture and shine to my hair that it’s the only product that I need to use on the daily.

It’s hard to recall all of the products that I tried over the year but these were definitely the mainstays that I will continue to enjoy! I don’t usually do resolutions but I definitely want to stop trying so many new things and instead have a more curated collection of products that I know I love. Let me know what you were loving this year, did we have anything in common?
