I have no desire to get out of bed today, so apologies that all of these photos were taken from my bed 😛 It’s amazing, it only took 25 minutes to have four teeth removed but the pain has lasted like 30 hours. I feel like there should be some correlation between the length of the procedure and recovery but that’s apparently too much to ask. Also, I haven’t had any caffeine in three days and it’s misery. However, I did not come onto my dentist under sedation so overall, I think it went pretty well. For today’s post, I am sharing my birthday haul, I hope that you enjoy!
I have been curious about the Drunk Elephant brand for a long time and have been waiting to use up my day cream and current face wash prior to picking anything up. Well, per usual, I got taken with all of the pretty packaging and ingredients and walked away with more than I intended. I have been using everything for about a week and I like everything quite a lot. I think the stand out products have so far been the Marula Oil and LaLa Retro Whipped Cream, I love the pump containers that the face creams come in that protect them from outside contamination. The one aspect of the brand that I don’t love is that it’s recommended to use only their products which seems like a cash grab. I plan to follow up with reviews as I use everything up.
For the January birthday gift, Sephora had a choice between DE and Kat Von D – the samples were really generous and included a full ounce of the Beste No. 9 Jelly Cleanser and half an ounce of the Protini Polypeptide Cream which are also both very nice. The Protini feels a bit on the gel side, I was worried about it pilling but so far so good. I feel like a bit of an ass getting sucked into the understated luxury of the brand but I had to satisfy my curiosity.
I didn’t pick up too many makeup bits because I just don’t need anymore makeup. I did get the new Fenty Gloss Bomb in Fussy which is a pretty light pink in the same awesome formula. I skipped the Natasha Denona Camel palette and picked up the mini Lola, Sunset and Nude palettes instead. I love the formula of these, they are the perfect amount of shadow too if you don’t want to splurge on her bigger palettes.
I stopped in the new ULTA at Mall of American and only walked out with some new brushes because it was a madhouse in there.
I needed more Kiwi Booster so I’m not really counting those as gifts but I have experienced such good results that I decided to order two bottles of the original Halo as well. The problem is, I don’t much care for Tati – she’s on a clean skincare thing, which is fine but she went on this tangent in one of her recent videos about how terrible coal tar is and how it was listed as a bad ingredient on those stupid Clean Beauty tags in Sephora. Well, had she done any research, she would have read that coal tar can be used to treat psoriasis and other skin conditions but clearly, she hadn’t. I use coal tar pretty regularly to treat my psoriasis, sorry we can’t all have perfect skin. She just seems to be one of those people who latches onto every trend without doing any research and then regurgitates that bullshit to millions of viewers. I think this will be my last order of vitamins, I just can’t support her.
I stopped into Old Navy hoping to find a new robe but came out with everything but a new robe. Their clearance was amazing and I snagged these cute mittens with matching scarf, two casual tops and these velvet pom-pom slippers that were too cute to pass on.
My last stop at the mall was for a few candles, the seasonal ones were pretty picked over but I snagged some favorites.
My Modcloth order included a couple of dresses, a handbag and some tops – I didn’t know that the bad lining was full of stars!
And of course, the Cooluli that I talked about here and am still loving.
That does it, a pretty fabulous day filled with too much shopping.
