    Deja Dead – A Review

With spoilers so tap out now if you intend to read this book and don’t want the plot ruined! Alright, I mentioned a few weeks back that I was in need of a new book series and I had compiled a list of popular television shows that were based on a book series. One of those being one of my all-time favourite shows, Bones. If you haven’t watched the show, it’s about a forensic anthropologist Dr. Temperance Brennan who works with a varying group of scientists at the Smithsonian Institution and they collaborate with the FBI to solve a number of cases. It’s pretty straightforward, the bad guy is usually…

    What I’m Reading

Mother Nature has blessed us with an anomaly in the middle of this heat wave, it’s been rainy and 60 degrees which is perfect reading weather. I mean, I read in any kind of weather but some days I just feel obligated to come home, light some candles and read a book. I have a few books going at the moment, I tend to read different books at work than I do at home so I usually have a couple going simultaneously – does anyone else do this? A total random find, I picked up this adult horror novel by the one and only RL Stine a few weeks ago…

    Dare Me: A Review

Have you ever read a book that left you wondering what the heck it was about and what the point of all that was? That is pretty much how I was left feeling after finishing Megan Abbott’s cheerleader noir (her words, not mine) Dare Me. I have to admit that I am generally a little put off by novels that are about teenagers because they seem wildly unrealistic and overly-salacious, this was no exception. The focus of the story is mainly the bizarre relationship between a cheerleading coach and her squad. Addy, apparently the team lieutenant and Beth, the captain find themselves in a weird friend/enemy triangle with the new…

The Last Time I Lied: A Review

Spoilers ahead! I did it, I blazed through my BOTM pick for the month and I am almost a little bummed about it because they haven’t had much of an interesting selection these past few months. I chose The Last Time I Lied by Riley Sager, I mostly liked his first book under this pseudonym, Final Girls and did a review on it here if you are interested! His second offering is a departure from the cheesecake horror genre which surprised me since the setting is at a summer camp a la Camp Crystal Lake and I was expecting somebody to get slashed. Emma Davis finds herself back at Camp Nightingale…

    Summer To Be Read

Ah, summer. Bees, sunburns, allergies, bees. I spent a lot of time indoors reading during the summer as a kid and to be honest, not a whole lot has changed since then. I take my chances with the bees these days and do read outside a lot more, usually in a full black ensemble and mosquito net, slathered in SPF 50 but I get outside 😛 Obviously, I don’t have as much free time now as I did then but I tend to read a lot more during the summer just out of habit and have quite a few books that I want to get through in the next couple…
