    (bare)Pro or No?

bareminerals, the company that convinced women everywhere that liquid foundation was basically poison and shouldn’t be anywhere near our skin recently released a liquid foundation of their very own. When I started wearing their original mineral foundation, I was 17-18 years old and it was all that I needed in a foundation until my mid to late 20’s and I stopped liking how it set on my skin so I switched to liquid foundation. I would like to think that the brand knew that its original fans had drifted back to liquid foundation because it is more forgiving and thus released a good for your skin liquid foundation to accommodate…

    Hasta La Vista BB

The Terminator franchise is probably one of my absolute faves, I keep seeing these new robots that scientists are building and am like – Haven’t these people seen Terminator!? I just don’t think that so much time and research should be poured into robotics, the existence of Skynet being wildly unlikely aside, aren’t there more important things to be developing and researching? Just because something can be done, doesn’t mean it should – see nuclear weapons if there’s any question of what I mean. There is technology that is better left alone and when these robots take over the world, I am going to be there with a big ol’…

    It Starts with You.

Things that piss me off – the Doomsday Clock, a group of egomaniacs with a god complex (Bulletin of Atomic Scientists) casting predictions on when the world will end. What I find ironic and hysterical is that the clock was moved ahead due to the impending threat of nuclear warfare. What is even more ironic is that the clock is a result of the first atomic bombs being used in modern warfare in WWII. So back up, scientists invented nuclear weapons – the actual means that they are warning will end our existence, they feel the need to warn us of impending doom and want us to do something about…

    Gabrielle by Chanel

After testing out seemingly 100 perfume samples these last couple of months, I finally settled on a new fragrance. It’s one that I wasn’t particularly interested in until I tested it on a whim and loved it. It is the new scent from Chanel, Gabrielle. I am not usually drawn to Chanel scents, I have a bottle of No. 5 and will wear it on occasion but it’s not my favourite. That being said, Gabrielle is very Chanel-esque and may not be for those who don’t like their fragrances but it is also just different enough to be perfect. The notes are light and floral with orange blossom, ylang-ylang, jasmine…

March Fail – Perfume or Poison?

And not Dior Poison, I mean actual poison. I don’t usually have such strong feelings about products and  will still find a use for something even if I am slightly disappointed but this one is pretty bad. I recently used up all of the bottles of perfume that I had in my collection and wanted to try something totally new. I settled for Mon Guerlain, I read that it was a tribute to today’s femininity a la Angelina Jolie and I assumed that it would be an update on some of their classics that would incorporate flavours of their signature fragrances. Lavender, jasmine, sandalwood and vanilla are supposed to be the key notes, these are additions…

    February Fail – Micellar Water

I think I am going to do a series where I talk about a product that really pissed me off due to it being so incredibly bad 😀 This is the kick-off, enjoy!! Micellar water has been all of the rage recently, everyone is using it and every brand is releasing one. So many people rave about the L’Oreal Micellar Cleansing Water and I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. Having used this product multiple times now – I literally have no idea what people are talking about. I have used several brands of micellar waters, all with varying results but this one does almost nothing –…

First Impressions: UD Optical Illusion Primer

I am trying to get into American Gothic and I just don’t know if I am feeling it or not…? It seems like they were going for a dark comedy, zany series in the first episode and then it took a turn to drama but it still seems like the acting is just really bad and none of that was intended. Is anyone else watching this? Does it get better? The acting I mean, or does it stay offbeat?I am kind of relieved that there is only 1 season. In other news, I am starting a new series, MOTD Mondays where I will share what products I used for the…

    Thoughts on tarteist PRO

I realized that I didn’t get my turkey fix this year! We didn’t do a turkey which was a nice switch but I had a hankering for some turkey and decided that today was the day. Well, not a whole turkey – it was just a turkey breast but it hit the spot. I do my turkey breast in a slow-cooker, amazing every time! If you haven’t tried that cooking method, definitely check it out. I am in a battle with the new tarteist PRO Amazonian Clay Palette and after another morning of trying and failing to use it, I am losing that battle. This palette has rave reviews online…

    Swamp Queen Palette Review

Coming off of a couple of month’s super adorable Ipsy bag designs, I received an invitation to snag November’s bag with no wait list. Uh, yea please – the constellation design was right up my alley. Flash forward to a month later, I forgot that I had signed up and never received the bag. Going back to read the fine print, I would only get the bag if there were left overs. There weren’t. Flash forward to now, having received the December bag and I could not be more disappointed. This bag is hideous and such a dud in comparison to the October/November designs. I have been avoiding the subscription…

    Chocolate Sunday

What a perfectly charming Sunday in my little suburb today. We got a little under an inch of snow last night and it wasn’t immediately ruined by rain! The tree is on, candles going and the coffee is flowing. With nowhere to go it is a nice break from last weekend! With the household still asleep I had some time to play with makeup this morning. I wear makeup everyday but workdays are a very scientific process where I don’t experiment and weekends are pretty minimal. But today, I had new products to try and couldn’t resist a full face! My first ever Chocolate Bar palette arrived – I have…
