Wednesday Reveal – December Sephora Play!

I received a notification that Nylon is no longer offering their monthly box and I am unsure if I will be receiving a box for December or not! This somewhat inspired me to cancel all of my subscription boxes, I have 3 shoe boxes of samples to use up and though I love getting the little beauty bags, it seems wasteful. I am also at a point where I know what my skin needs, I know what kind of makeup I like and I don’t get as much joy out of new things to try. I will definitely keep an eye out for luxe boxes and limited edition boxes but…

    Wednesday Reveal – December Glambag

I just finished wrapping gifts this weekend, I like to really draw it out and only wrap a couple at a time. So, I am minding my own business, listening to some Christmas carols on Pandora when The Gael comes on – if you don’t what that is, it was used as the theme for The Last of the Mohicans – bagpipes, drums, the whole nine. This film devastated me in my youth and I cannot listen to the soundtrack to this day without becoming completely distraught. I am that person who will hear a piece of music and just start bawling like an idiot, I heard My Maria by Brooks and Dunn (I…

    Wednesday Reveal – November Glambag

Real talk, have you ever found out that someone is a church-goer and it made you think less of them? Not because I am anti-church, or anti-faith or anything but because the person is just such an asshole that you cannot fathom how they could possibly go and sit in church every Sunday and be the way that they are!? I was made privy to this information about someone recently and I wanted to just stop everything and ask them, So – you just choose to be a condescending, elitist, snotty prig and then you go to church? What church do you go to?! The Church of Latter Day Assholes?! I…

Wednesday Reveal – November Sephora Play!

I don’t know if I am doing Blogmas this year, I find it really hard to write posts that are holiday related. I mean, I love Christmas but how does one talk about it for 25 straight days?! I enjoy reading everyone’s Blogmas but I myself am in need of some holiday inspo. It’s funny that the theme for the November Play! is Me O’Clock – I was just recently peeved off over a YouTuber yakking on about self-care and SJW’s, two terms that I feel have been completely bastardized in the United States especially. I don’t know when self-care was hijacked by self-proclaimed SJW’s but it’s definitely abused. I feel that…

    Wednesday Reveal – October Birchbox

This is actually my final Birchbox, I only had two months left of a full year of this service but it didn’t seem worth it. I didn’t love this subscription, yes it is only $10/month but the boxes always felt thrown together with no cohesiveness. Also, this month I think I received the curated box which I didn’t choose…? Anyway, here is what I received in my final Behind the Scenes box: Matrix Biolage R.A.W Uplift Shampoo & Condition – I like the aesthetic of this line from Biolage, they look like juice drinks. This is a volumizing and body-boosting duo formulated with black sesame and grapefruit. I have used…

    Wednesday Reveal – October Nylon

Confession, I think that the Christmas tree is going up this weekend. I don’t why I am just in the holiday spirit and I could really take or leave Thanksgiving. I always thought that Thanksgiving was just a PR stunt, I mean, it is a nice story but does anyone really think that is the way it went down? It is fascinating to me that this random, 3-day feast with no religious overtones has stood the test of time for almost 400 years. The celebration of the harvest always seemed a bit Pagan for the Puritan pilgrims but anyway, I don’t love Thanksgiving. I am that odd person who will…

Sample Saturday – Make Up For Ever Minis

It’s a little known fact, I go hard for hair bands; Alice Cooper, Whitesnake, RATT, Poison, Quiet Riot, Night Ranger, Aldo Nova, Twisted Sister, Warrant – the perms, spandex, bandanas – I am there. My current playlist list for work is a compilation of the 100 greatest hair band songs (in my opinion) – it’s kind of a problem, I find myself gripped with the desire to start screaming the lyrics to Paradise City. So few people understand the appeal of the hair band, I think it’s a very misunderstood genre. The showmanship, the energy, the talent, I was born in the wrong era, *le sigh* That being said, I hope that everyone thinks I…

Wednesday Reveal – Play! The Beauty Remedy Edition

I hate the feeling after a holiday is over of total deflation – after Christmas is the absolute worst even though I do milk the holidays until my birthday. Everything seems so bland and ordinary, I also don’t decorate for the in between time from Halloween to Christmas so my apartment is super dreary looking. Such first world problems, wah-wah. I was literally just saying that I was hoping that Sephora would release more limited edition, luxury Play! bags and they recently launched the Beauty Remedy Edition, there were two options to choose from, each box included 6 samples from top brands with a mix of makeup and skincare. I received the wrong one and…

Sample Saturday – Kat Von D Beauty

This is a brand that one would assume that I would be into, the artistry, the stunning hues, Kat Von D being a complete goddess – but I am not that into this brand. I have tried quite a few items and just never felt the need to make any of them permanent additions to my routine. Today I have two of her Everlasting Liquid Lipstick minis, this product claims to apply like a gloss and dry down to a matte finish, provides 24 hour wear, comes in 44 shades and retails at $20 each. The entire line is cruelty-free and I believe vegan but don’t quote me on that,…

Wednesday Reveal – October Sephora Play!

I was super excited when I saw what I was receiving in my Play! I thought it was a gamble for the featured product to be a foundation, especially from a brand that offers over 40 shades. I have been curious about Makeup Forever foundations for a while and they actually sent a shade that was a good match! I liked that the box was so complexion focused and not just a hodge-podge of products – I felt that it represented the theme of Public Display of Complexion perfectly. Here is what came in my bag! Makeup Forever Ultra HD Invisible Coverage Foundation in Ivory – I have to say that this…
