    Wednesday Reveal – October Birchbox

This is actually my final Birchbox, I only had two months left of a full year of this service but it didn’t seem worth it. I didn’t love this subscription, yes it is only $10/month but the boxes always felt thrown together with no cohesiveness. Also, this month I think I received the curated box which I didn’t choose…? Anyway, here is what I received in my final Behind the Scenes box: Matrix Biolage R.A.W Uplift Shampoo & Condition – I like the aesthetic of this line from Biolage, they look like juice drinks. This is a volumizing and body-boosting duo formulated with black sesame and grapefruit. I have used…

    Sample Saturday – Living Proof

Today’s sample came in my August Birchbox, it is the Living Proof Restore Mask Treatment. This was a great sample size and I was able to get 3 uses out of it, I have shoulder length hair. My hair isn’t particularly dry but it is coarse and wavy, and I use masks frequently to keep it from getting frizzy. Living Proof products are sulfate, paraben and silicon free and pretty expensive in my opinion. I have used a few of their products before and wasn’t blown away by their performance, there are more affordable brands that are formulated with very good ingredients. Anyway, this mask claims to reduce damage from styling…

    Sample Saturday – Marcelle

Sample Saturday, sponsored by mono and no – it is not an STD if you were wondering. I am on about week 4, how did I get mono? No idea, how does anyone get mono? I don’t share drinks, I don’t share eating utensils, I don’t touch things in public. I went for a check up on Thursday, yup, still have it. I feel mostly fine, it is weird that the really bad symptoms coincided with some vaccinations that I had and I just chalked it up to that until one day I was pretty certain that I was dying, went to the doctor and it was just mono. Is…

    Wednesday Reveal – August Birchbox

I was asked to work on a somewhat creative writing piece at work and totally panicked – I am not a creative writer. I never grasped the concept of creating characters and worlds out of thin air and putting them to paper in a cohesive manner. I kinda’ struggled with it and kept procrastinating – turns out my boss really liked what I turned in. I was elated and then I thought, Well shit. That could have been my best work, anything I crank out now will just be mediocre I have peaked. This is generally how I feel when I do something well, that it won’t get any better than…

    Wednesday Reveal – July Birchbox

I am deep in the weeds researching perms, I really think that this is the time that I am going to do it. There are a few salons in my area that offer a natural perm, which I think I may opt for. I hope this isn’t one of those things though where the natural option costs twice as much (it does) but doesn’t actually work. I have run into this before, I want to give these products a try because they are better for me but then they don’t work. Looking at you wart remover – I had a wart, on my hand and I used this holistic salve…

    Wednesday Reveal – June Birchbox

Birchbox is quickly becoming my least favourite subscription box, I feel that they send out a lot of the same brands and similar products. This will be my 7th box and the variety is so lacking in comparison to other subscriptions that I really enjoy. This could be the last box that I do from them, or July will be since I already paid for it. We will see if they redeem themselves in July. The theme for the month was Face the Day and here is what came in my box: amika Perk Up Dry Shampoo – I think this is at least the 4th product that I have received…

    Wednesday Reveal – May Birchbox

Has anyone else seen these videos where women are waxing off the baby hairs around their hairline – are you kidding me with that!? Some aren’t trimming the hair and just waxing off blobs of hair that is inches long in length – it makes me cringe. Those girls are hardcore, I couldn’t do it. I hate waxing anything, my least favorite activity in the world. Anyway, I love this time of the month when all of the sub-boxes start rolling in! I am still in a love/hate thing with Birchbox, some have been great but I am on a disappointing streak more recently and this month’s box continues that…

    Subscription Box Showdown

I need some candle suggestions, I went HAM on the spring scents when B&BW (I’m trying out an acronym thing) had their three wicks on sale. I picked up all of the staples, sweet-pea, lilac, gardenia, lavender – which is nice and all but my apartment smells like a floral nightmare. I need something woodsy to balance it out, skipping candles – I am just going to throw some cedar chips down. I am switching things up for Sample Saturday, instead of posting about a sample I thought I’d share a round-up of subscription boxes and what I think so far. I am just touching on the main ones that…

    Wednesday Reveal – April Birchbox

The highlight of my day has so far been when I got into my car and I had an extra muffin that I somehow forgot to take inside with me? How do you forget that you left your breakfast in the car, damn good muffin though. Is this a rut? Am I in a rut? When a cast-off, forgotten muffin makes your day – that’s a rut, isn’t it?! Just tell me! I am not one to peek at my sub-boxes before they arrive but I am kicking myself that I just didn’t pick the curated box this month! This is lamest box ever – I mean, for $10 I…

    Wednesday Reveal – March Birchbox

Some days I feel that I am pretty well-versed in technology and then some days (like today) I feel like a complete, freaking idiot and cannot manage to use a printer. I try to be patient with older people who didn’t grow up on technology because that is going to be me someday and I think that is terrifying. I really hope that whole putting good in to get good out thing is a thing because I am really putting it out there. Anyway, Wednesday and per usual I am prepping this post burning time before the evening meeting. My Birchbox arrived and I love the box – very Reese Witherspoon if…
