    Julianne’s Red

The perfect, red lipstick – what an elusive thing it is. L’Oreal released a range of pinks, nudes and reds formulated after some of Hollywood’s loveliest lips and their signature shades. I picked up a few from the range because I have a problem needed a red lipstick and thought that this would be my penguin. The package is lovely, it is black matte with gold detail and has Julianne’s signature stamped on it – it feels like it cost more than 5 bucks. I chose Julianne’s Red because Julianne Moore is also a ginger and figured that this would work with my skin tone. At first glance, this lipstick is very tomato-y…

31 Nights of Horror – Fear

The memory of hunkering down at midnight, under the couch with my sister to watch this film is actually more piquant than watching it in the present. Fear, is so bizarre and pretty unsettling. I thought that William Petersen (the dad) was such a fox, I don’t know what this says about me…? He plays the overprotective patriarch of his somewhat broken family. There isn’t anything overtly wrong aside from a lot of tension but it’s enough to add extra drama to the plot. He is married to his second wife who has her own son from another marriage and his own teenage daughter from his first marriage, Nicole, (Reese…

    For the Love of Pixies

Alright ladies, (and gentleman) I am having a hair dilemma. I am at that stage where it feels frumpy and too long and usually what I do at this point is just cut it all off into a pixie and start again. Seems drastic but I love a pixie, so low-maintenance and they look effortlessly chic but I also think they make me look older than I am – plus the grow out can be a major pain in the ass. I have been through it enough times with my stylist that he knows what cut I like for ease of growing it out when I want to. Not to…

31 Nights of Horror – Let the Right One In

This next one is a new’sh Swedish film, Let the Right One In. This is a story about two young kids, a sad and lonely little boy and a mysterious little girl. Oskar lives with his mother and is often bullied by kids at school, he spends a lot of time planning violent retaliation and reading grisly accounts of murder. He meets Eli when she moves in with an elderly man who lives in the same apartment complex. Eli does not immediately allow Oskar to pursue a friendship with her but soon they become close. Hakan, the elderly man who is taking care of Eli makes several attempts to kill people…

    Yes, Please Palette First Impressions!

UPDATE: After struggling for the last 45 minutes to make this work – it’s a dud. This is a perfect example of why ya’ just cannot trust swatches. The shadows went on OK but there was quite a lot of fall out and kick-up, the shadows were actually fading while I was applying them – this has never happened! I primed one eye with Shape Tape and one with Primer Potion, both sides were patchy and muddy 🙁 Total bummer. I will give it another whirl with different brushes but it seems like a bust! Yup – I m that person who finally gets something on the 100th restock and…

31 Nights of Horror – Sinister

This movie will be one of the few modern horror movies that I have on my list. It isn’t that I haven’t seen a lot of the newer horror movies, I just don’t like them. They often times go too far and are just all around doing too much! I don’t like gore for the sake of gore or weird for the sake of weird, which I feel is the case with modern horror movies. If I want to see some horrific shit, I can just turn on the news – I feel that these movies are desensitizing society to real suffering and real violence. Sinister is a true crime, paranormal,…

    Sample Saturday – Living Proof

Today’s sample came in my August Birchbox, it is the Living Proof Restore Mask Treatment. This was a great sample size and I was able to get 3 uses out of it, I have shoulder length hair. My hair isn’t particularly dry but it is coarse and wavy, and I use masks frequently to keep it from getting frizzy. Living Proof products are sulfate, paraben and silicon free and pretty expensive in my opinion. I have used a few of their products before and wasn’t blown away by their performance, there are more affordable brands that are formulated with very good ingredients. Anyway, this mask claims to reduce damage from styling…

31 Nights of Horror – Friday the 13th

Friday the 13th on Friday the 13th?! Oh, ya’ll wanted a twist? Go read someone else’s blog 😛 Where to start with this movie, it has everything. A pack of teens in the blossom of their youth, a secluded summer camp that was the site of a tragic death, a murderer hiding in the trees and picking people off, a severe thunderstorm on the eve when all hell breaks loose and all of this happening on a day already shrouded in superstition. What more could you want? Camp Crystal Lake has been closed since the murder of two camp counselors in the year following the drowning of a young boy. Decades…

    New at the Drugstore Haul!

And by drugstore, I mean Wal-Mart. I went there this morning for coffee since they are the only ones who are open super early and managed to have way too much fun in the makeup aisle. I was on the hunt for a couple of new releases and they literally had everything that I have been wanting to check out – that never happens and it is probably for the best 🙂 Side note, these pictures are not super great because I took them inside – mer, mer.  I am jumping on the FitMe bandwagon, I have read/watched so many rave reviews about this line and I was on the hunt for the new…

31 Nights of Horror – A Nightmare on Elm Street

This movie changed the game for me, not only did I have to worry about getting serial-murdered in the real world, I was also now susceptible in my dream world. Freddy first appears in the dreams of teenager, Tina Gray and attacks her with his razor-blade embellished glove. Tina, thinking that it was just a nightmare is horrified to see that her nightgown is torn. Tina tells her friends (Rod, Don and Nancy – it was the 80’s) what happened and one by one, Freddy starts to terrorize each of them in their dreams. After Tina is murdered in her dreams, the remaining teens concoct a plan to lure Freddy…
