    Best of August

Everyone around me seems to be surprised at how quickly this year is passing and I am over here like; Is it Halloween yet? I just love this time of year, I know that spring time is traditionally considered the rebirth of life and new beginnings but for me, it’s fall. I think it’s a lot to do with the back to school season and feeling like you are embarking on something new. It’s always felt like a season of transition for me and I look forward to that feeling every year. Here’s a peek at what I was loving this last month of summer! aromatica Rosemary Refresh Toner –…

    Best of June

I didn’t share any products for Best of May since I could only come up with two products that seemed like favourites so I just saved those to talk about in this month’s post. I actually had a few things this month so let’s get to them. Drybar Hot Toddy – I purchased this after I started using the heat protectant spray and they work really well together. They both have the same musky scent that can be a little strong going on but I never notice it throughout the day. It gives my hair a little body and keeps it smooth without feeling sticky or weighing it down. I…

    Monday Must Have – Milani

I am on a lip-gloss bender, I don’t even know who I am anymore. Long-wear, matte lips never really suited me and I didn’t feel comfortable wearing them but I am fully embracing the lip-gloss come back. I have been using a few different brands lately but the Keep it Full Nourishing Lip Plumper has been my daily product since I picked it up a few weeks ago. Not all lip-gloss is created equal and most glosses are nowhere near the goopy, gloppy, scummy products of my youth but this takes the cake for the perfect formula, in my opinion. The component is short and round so it’s as easy…

    May Trash Talk

I am changing the title of my monthly empties posts to Trash Talk because it’s corny and vaguely 90’s. I am not going to post my faves for May because I only had two products that were new to my faves and all of the others, I had definitely posted about before – I will just save everything for June! I didn’t have too bad of a month for using things up in May and am slowly but surely reducing my products which feels great. Let’s get started! Wet ‘n Wild PhotoFocus Matte Primer – I think this is a great everyday, lightweight primer that provides a decent amount of…

First Impression Friday – L’Oreal Lash Paradise Primer

One of the most raved about mascaras to come out of the drugstore in the last year now has a companion primer and you better believe that I had to give it a go! I mentioned recently that I don’t really believe in primers and I stand by that unless it is a lash primer which is typically the exact opposite of how everyone else feels. Most of my gal pals don’t get why I love lash primers so much but they are an absolute staple for my makeup routine. Lash primers can be very nourishing for the lashes, they plump the lashes, they can enhance the durability and longevity…

    Physician’s Formula – First Impressions

I am a serial offender when it comes to deciding to try a product that I have never tried before and know nothing about on a whim, usually when I am already running late for work because I just like to torture myself. This happens a lot since I don’t have a ton of other time to try new makeup and I just seize the opportunity when it arises. I love these beauty gurus who use a product, do a little Facetuning and then are like – I’m gonna’ go wash my face now. If I put something on my face, it’s done, I’m committed, I have places to be.…

    Hasta La Vista BB

The Terminator franchise is probably one of my absolute faves, I keep seeing these new robots that scientists are building and am like – Haven’t these people seen Terminator!? I just don’t think that so much time and research should be poured into robotics, the existence of Skynet being wildly unlikely aside, aren’t there more important things to be developing and researching? Just because something can be done, doesn’t mean it should – see nuclear weapons if there’s any question of what I mean. There is technology that is better left alone and when these robots take over the world, I am going to be there with a big ol’…

Burt’s Bees Makeup – Blush for Spring

Not so recently, Burt’s Bees – known for their skincare and cult fave lip balm released a line of natural makeup. There are words to describe my makeup and natural is not one of them but I took a chance on a couple of their new blushers. I don’t need much convincing when it comes to purchasing new blush but it definitely helped that the shades were exactly the coral, peach-y, nude tones that I primarily wear. There are three shades, they come in these stinking adorable honeycomb plastic compacts and retail for $10 each. I chose Bare Peach and Toasted Cinnamon which are both warm-toned shades with a satin…

First Impression Friday – LA Girl

My pharmacy takes 45 minutes to fill anything, I could ask for a bottle of Aspirin and it would require at least half an hour to produce. I don’t get it but I think it’s a scheme to get people to shop while they are waiting and it works. I was dinking around and came upon an LA Girl display and feel like this brand gets pretty good reviews plus it was on BOGO so I grabbed a couple of items. I literally grabbed two eyeliner pencils, one brown and one dark brown because I’m a jerk. I just never know what to try when it comes to new brands…

    First Ever e.l.f Purchase

And it’s a lip gloss, because I am just lame like that but I have heard that this brand can be very hit and miss and the gloss was the only item on the display that I had heard rave reviews about. Lip glosses are surprisingly hard for brands to do in my opinion. You have your sloppy, sticky, goopy mess of a gloss, glosses or the gritty gloss, the runny gloss – there is a surprising amount of variety when it comes to glosses. I am not a gloss gal per say but I do wear them when I get a hankering. There were three shades, I chose Champagne…
