    Venus XL – First Impressions

My kitchen decor order is arriving this evening and I will not be home to receive it which means that the BF will be there when it arrives and obviously wonder why I need more kitchen stuff. Boys, honestly. Can we still say that or is it sexist now? I think the PC thing to say would be, Individuals who don’t cook or otherwise spend any time in the kitchen will never understand the need to have a lovely kitchen. But really, if I am not cooking then I’m cleaning it, if we have people over then they sit at the kitchen counter, one walks through the kitchen when coming…

    First Impressions – Soft Glam

Here it is, the palette that made me realize that I just don’t like ABH eye-shadow. I own more than a few and it seems odd even to me that I am writing the brand off when it comes to eye-shadows but I just don’t like them! When Subculture was being torn to shreds on the internet, I didn’t get it – it was just as powdery, just as patchy and just as tricky to work with as my Modern Renaissance palettes (I’ve been through two) and I didn’t see an issue with it. Also, I think that Subculture remains my fave palette from ABH simply because of the wild shade array – I don’t…

I Think I Love You Palette Review

The sun came out for 2.3 seconds, I figured that I could get my blog photos for the week taken but alas. Today I have the I Think I Love You Palette from ColourPop, this a 12 pan palette that includes 8 metallic shadows and 4 mattes. This one didn’t seem as popular at their Yes, Please palette but I was drawn to it for the abundance of brown and bronze metallic shadows. Metallic shadows are my favourite to wear, I find them generally easy to work with and I know that this brand does a really nice metallic formula. That being said, I was hesitant to try it because…

    More Fresh Baked Goodies

Confession, I really want to love cream shadow – it just feels like something I should be into but I am always hesitant to try new ones. I do like the look of cream shadows used as primers and eyelid colour corrector and decided to take a gamble on the cream Eyescreams from Beauty Bakerie. I only chose 2 matte, neutrals because I am just super boring like that and I really want to use these as bases. You get 3 grams for $16 and there are 14 shades, I chose Crumb Cake and Pancake. The shadow comes in a super cute, frosted glass pots with pink top. My only…

    We All Scream for Eyescream

Apparently there is a Sanrio sub-box and part of me is like – you are too old for Hello Kitty and the other part is – nobody is ever too old for Hello Kitty. But I am probably too old for that and should just admit it *le sigh* I have been waiting so patiently for the Neapolitan EyesCream Palette to come back in stock, I finally received that notification email and snatched one up. I think that this palette is a steal of a deal at $38 for 12 stunning shadows. I am telling you, there is not a bad one in the batch. You get 7 shimmers and…

New in Drugstore Beauty: ExpertWear Shadow

I feel like glo-tions are everywhere and I want to try one so bad but glowy products look good on me for a few hours and then I just look like a sweaty hog. I might still try one, I know I’m going to try one – I just cannot resist. My skin goes in phases, sometimes it never feels hydrated and other times I feel like I could skip moisturizer (I never do), at 30 you think it would have figured itself  out by now. More on glo-tions later. Drugstore beauty has been killing it lately with their new releases, I find something almost every time I venture into…

    A Study in Pink: Palettes

I am supposed to be re-purposing this mangy old rug but then my baby cat decided that she would help and I gave up on that. More pink, I wanted to get a few of these done before the big day but time is running out 🙁 Admittedly I do not own too many pink shadows, I have a few singles but I just don’t find that pink shadow looks very flattering on me. These next two palettes are very flattering though and versatile. I can achieve entire looks with them or just use a couple of shades in tandem with my singles. The first is a gorgeous, warm palette…

    End of Winter Celebration Sale

Eek! I got my Ipsy spoiler email and I am swooning over my picks this month! As if that wasn’t enough to make it a good day, my Beautylish order arrived – holy express shipping! Can I just say that I really appreciate that type of service, super classy. Somehow my first order from them coincided with the End of Winter Celebration sale which featured 50% off of several Jeffree Star products. I have never tried this brand but it is one that I have always been curious about. Here are some shots of what I purchased and my initial thoughts, I will be sure to post swatches and a…

    Thoughts on tarteist PRO

I realized that I didn’t get my turkey fix this year! We didn’t do a turkey which was a nice switch but I had a hankering for some turkey and decided that today was the day. Well, not a whole turkey – it was just a turkey breast but it hit the spot. I do my turkey breast in a slow-cooker, amazing every time! If you haven’t tried that cooking method, definitely check it out. I am in a battle with the new tarteist PRO Amazonian Clay Palette and after another morning of trying and failing to use it, I am losing that battle. This palette has rave reviews online…

    Metallic Eyes

Talk about freezing! The wind chill is completely miserable and everything is coated in ice from the freezing drizzle yesterday. I love winter but can understand why so many people hate it when it gets like this. A few posts ago I mentioned that Tarte has mastered the rich, buttery, metallic eyeshadow and I was talking  about their metallic eye shadow singles in particular. Currently, there are 11 different pans and they retail for $14 each. I don’t own a lot of single pan shadows but in comparison to UD singles you are getting .5 more grams for 5 bucks less – that isn’t a bad deal. The big question was if…
