    Holiday’ish Wishlist

I have already said that I am not huge into Thanksgiving, I don’t get it, I don’t like pumpkin pie (or squash pie since that canned pie filling has like .00001% actual pumpkin), I’m skeptical of the whole story behind Thanksgiving – I Just have a lot of issues with the holiday. I think that this year I am just doing a ton of appetizers since I don’t eat turkey and the alternatives are pretty loathsome. Like, tofurkey? I mean, who thought of that? More like to-fuckery, I can’t do it. So, I’m looking through all of these appetizer recipes and like 90% of them are labeled; World’s Best, The…

Holiday Shopping 101: Making it Fun for Everyone

It’s the most wonderful time of the yeeeaaarrrr! Well, almost but people are definitely already out doing some holiday shopping, myself included and Black Friday is just a couple of weeks out. It can be a stressful time of year but a lot of fun with everyone out looking for that perfect gift for a loved one and getting caught up in the hustle and bustle. It really kills the mood for shoppers and customer service associates when people are out behaving like fools. I post something along these lines every year but here are some things to keep in my mind for a pleasant shopping experience. This might be…

    Threshold Flannel Sheets: A Mood

Before we get to the sheets, I have to vent – what else is new? When I was at Target purchasing said sheets, I overheard a lady tell her friend, Well it could be worse. I hate it when people say this to someone who is having a rough day or complaining about something that seems menial. When did life become a suffering competition? Yea, of course it could be worse but just let someone have their moment to vent, being compassionate is the least someone can do. Everyone’s perception of hardship is different, it’s not a competition. Anyway, I wanted some flannel sheets since there’s snow on the ground…

    Dear Diary: The First Snow

We got our first snow in the Twin Cities last night, well actually it snowed a few days ago as well but didn’t accumulate so I’m not counting it. I love the snow, not as much as when I was a kid and didn’t have to drive in it or shovel it but I still love it. A blanket of fresh snow makes the world look so crisp and sparkly, it’s like instant Christmas. Now I know we have some time before it’s acceptable to crack out the Christmas decor but I am looking forward to so much this winter. Admittedly, I’m a menace on the ice but I like…

Potlucks & Eating Disorders: Some Food for Thought

It’s potluck season, we’ve actually had two at work in the last month and as someone who has a bit of an awkward relationship with food, this season can be straight misery. On the outside, the expectation is to be excited about the season of indulging, sharing favorite recipes, exchanging dishes and I enthusiastically play the part. I even share my recipes on here from time to time for others to enjoy. On the inside though it’s more like; fuuuuuccccckkkkkk. Having an eating disorder is something one really keeps to themselves which can be a predicament when partaking in any event that involves food. It’s a curious thing – roughly…

Blogtober – Day XI: Thankful Thursday

I love coming to my job everyday and dealing with shitty people. Legit, I love my job but as with any customer/public facing role, you see and work with all kinds of people. In general, people are pleasant and then there are those people who are just complete, grown-ass children. I got one of those today, I work in somewhat of an elitist community (see my rant about being pulled over in my shitty car like 50 times) and often hear variations of, I pay too much in taxes. I built a multi-million dollar home and this is absurd. I spend blah, blah, blah amount of money in this community.…

Blogtober – Day X: Halloween Office Decor

Can I rant? OK, good. It’s this weather, I swear, it’s just fucked my mood. I was watching YouTube, like ya’ do and I don’t know why I read the comments but I do and there was this comment that said wasn’t this YouTuber lucky that their complaint of the day was the oversized PR packaging when there are starving kids in Africa who don’t have clean drinking water. Are there starving kids in Africa? Yes, there are but what is this person sitting in front of their computer being a keyboard jockey doing about it? Nothing! Also, you don’t actually have to leave the US to find kids who…

Blogtober – Day IX: Holiday Wishlist

Would an anti-haul post be complete without a follow up wishlist? I think not. Now, I am more than likely not purchasing any of this, I have been using the same makeup items for a couple of months now and I think this is a sign that I don’t need more makeup or I am bored of it. I keep thinking that one day my lust for makeup will be sated but this has not happened. If brands would slow their roll with all of these releases, that would be great. Two things here, this palette is pretty boring and I cannot work with the ABH eyeshadow formula so why…

Blogtober – Day VIII: Holiday Anti-Haul

So I’m sitting here, enjoying my coffee, trying to talk myself into purchasing a jar of La Mer cream. I received a deluxe sample with a purchase from Nordstrom randomly and I really enjoyed it. I had tried the Soft Creme at some point and didn’t like it all which makes me wonder if the original is where it’s at. I’ve been doing a ton of research to see if this magical cream is really worth the price tag and I came upon this article. And I’m like, what a bunch of pretentious bullshit. Is this why it costs so much – they had to hire a psychic to reformulate…

Blogtober – Day V: Treat Bags

So, I have a rant before I get into today’s post, not really a rant but just a grievance. Charitable giving at work stresses me out, not because I don’t enjoy doing it or feel that I can’t do it but more so that others might not be able to but don’t feel comfortable saying, I can’t participate because I can’t afford to. I think that there can sometimes be an assumption that because someone is working, they should be able to afford giving something but that might not be the case. Ugh. Does anyone else feel this way? It is wearing on me now that the holidays are coming…
