Holiday Shopping 101: Making it Fun for Everyone

It’s the most wonderful time of the yeeeaaarrrr! Well, almost but people are definitely already out doing some holiday shopping, myself included and Black Friday is just a couple of weeks out. It can be a stressful time of year but a lot of fun with everyone out looking for that perfect gift for a loved one and getting caught up in the hustle and bustle. It really kills the mood for shoppers and customer service associates when people are out behaving like fools. I post something along these lines every year but here are some things to keep in my mind for a pleasant shopping experience. This might be…

    Dear Diary: Solitude

It’s November and I have serious beard envy, if I was a male with the ability to grow a beard then I would absolutely do it. Lamenting my beardless woes to my co-worker and she responds; we could do no-shave November. And we could but gross but then also who’s going to see it because I’m single and alone and nobody cares if I shave any part of my body which brings me to today’s topic – being single at 31. AaaaAlllLLL byyyyyy myyySeeelllLffff 😛 Being single and middle-aged (close enough anyway) doesn’t bother me but people in my life have a keen interest in my newfound solitude and suddenly,…

    A Little Life Update

Is my life very interesting? Absolutely not but it’s good for a chuckle every once in awhile and I wanted to post today even if it is a bit random 🙂 First off, the Car Shopping Chronicles continue and I have looked at way too many cars in the last few weeks with nothing really feeling like the perfect new vehicle. I had taken a break from car shopping but about a month ago, I was at the grocery store and the power locks on my car don’t work anymore so I leave it open and empty of anything of value. I came out of the grocery store and someone…

What’s in My Bag – Super Random Edition

Have you ever had one of those moments where you pick up your handbag and it feels like there’s a bowling ball in there? Me this morning so I had to do an extensive clear out. I enjoy a little peek into other’s people’s bags because I’m nosy and it’s interesting to see what someone chooses to have with them. I picked five items that I dug out of my bag that are totally random and some (I spared you the roll of aluminum), I don’t even know where they came from 😛 Did I buy this? Did I accidentally steal this? Did I think that I would actually wear…

Blogtober Day: XVII – Dear Vegans, This is Why Nobody Likes You

I’m exaggerating (a tad) I have many a vegan friend and I do believe that the more people shifting to a plant-based diet then the better off the environment will be in the long run. However, I read this article and it pissed me off because it’s an example of what I like to call Extreme Veganism and as with any extremist group, it’s detrimental to the cause. Vegan, by definition is someone who does not consume or use anything derived from animals or their by products. If that definition is to be expanded to not consuming, using or doing anything that has an impact on an animal in any kind…

31 Nights of Horror – Fright Night (1985)

This classic 1985 vampire thriller is about Charley Brewster, a typical teenager who is certain that his new neighbor is a vampire and responsible for the deaths of at least three young women after seeing him and another man hauling a coffin through their back yard. Charley tries to tell his mom and the police what happened but they assume that he is nuts and even confront Jerry (vampire neighbor) and his roommate Billy which leads the authorities to even further disbelieve Charley’s story. Charley, out of desperation seeks out a former vampire hunter and star of Fright Night, one of his favourite televisions shows but is ultimately rebuffed when not even Peter Vincent…

    31 Nights of Horror – Goosebumps (2015)

Tonight’s film is the big screen adaptation of the Goosbumps books by R.L. Stine. If you grew up reading the books and liked the television series, I think you would appreciate this as an adult otherwise, it could be a little corny if you are older than 12. Zach, that deceptively buff nerd that we all went to school with moves with his mother to a small town in Delaware. He takes a keen interest in his next door neighbor Hannah but her nutty dad warns Zach that he has to stay away from Hannah and their house altogether. Being a teenage boy, Zach does the exact opposite but little…

Blogtober – Day VIII: Holiday Anti-Haul

So I’m sitting here, enjoying my coffee, trying to talk myself into purchasing a jar of La Mer cream. I received a deluxe sample with a purchase from Nordstrom randomly and I really enjoyed it. I had tried the Soft Creme at some point and didn’t like it all which makes me wonder if the original is where it’s at. I’ve been doing a ton of research to see if this magical cream is really worth the price tag and I came upon this article. And I’m like, what a bunch of pretentious bullshit. Is this why it costs so much – they had to hire a psychic to reformulate…

Blogtober – Day IV: Spooky Book Tag

I have been on the hunt for a good fall/Halloween/spooky book tag for ages but haven’t been able to find quite what I’m looking for. I have cannibalized a few tags and compiled a number of questions to come up with this and would love for anyone who wants to, to take part! Though it sounds cliche, I think that The Shining will always be my favourite horror book. It was probably one of the first that I ever read as well and I still think it’s terrifying no matter how many times that I read it. There are so many details that were left out of the movie (per…

    Top Ten Tuesday – Scatterbrained

Do you ever feel as though your brain never shuts off and it isn’t like you’re sitting around solving all world’s problems, it’s just a random collection of thoughts? Same. 2003, that’s what. Back before it was trendy to be ashamed of the President and openly mock him, Natalie Maines made a rather innocuous comment about GW (my pet name for Bush) that completely ruined their career. You could compare the situation to the Kathy Griffith debacle but that was straight nuts. I just cannot believe that they never bounced back from that, they were so huge in the early 00’s. Like the pasta I had for dinner last night…
