Blogtober Day: XXVII – Best of October

I am listening to the second Kathy Reichs/Dr. Brennan book and talk about a long slog of a book read by a mediocre narrator. I imagine that this is what I would sound like narrating a book, like a high-pitched Daria with unexpected accents thrown in for creative flare – the worst. I don’t think that you necessarily have to listen to all of the books in order to keep up with the story and I am about skip out on the 6 remaining hours of this one. I hate to be a quitter though. This post might be a bit long, I really dug into my everyday makeup bag…

First Impression Friday – The Zodiac Collection

I can’t lie, ColourPop has released so many new products lately that I got a little jaded and when I saw this new collaboration with Kathleen Lights, I was going to skip it. I didn’t think that the palette looked super wearable but now that I have seen it and swatched it, I know I am going to get a lot of wear out of it. I purchased the bundle and though I haven’t worn anything yet, thought I would share a little peek: This twelve pan palette has purples, blues, browns and a stunning black with gold sparkle. Now, I wasn’t totally sold on The Capricorn being a black…

    Colourpop New Releases Haul!

Oh, ColourPop snatching my cash at every possible opportunity. If you didn’t know which I don’t know how one couldn’t, ColourPop recently released a new foundation that comes in a load of shades and only costs $12. I have watched a few reviews and they were consistently good so I decided to order some after a bit of hesitation. The hesitation was mostly a result of the fact that I just don’t need more foundation but I have a problem, the first step is admitting it. I didn’t know what shade to get and I have to say that in person, the two that I ordered look almost identical. I…

    First Impression Friday – Glossier

It’s June 15th, people, Incredibles II came out today and you better believe that I will be pushing little kids down in the theater tonight. Also, I don’t want to hear any crying or whining from any kids who can’t respect the sanctity of this film, I will be shushing so fair warning. Seriously though, is anyone else super jazzed that this finally came out?! Too bad I am so responsible, should’ve cut work – I hope my employer appreciates this sacrifice. I woke up early so that I could take some photos of my makeup but it was thunder-storming and I gave up on a good shot but I…

    Glossier Haul

Glossier – the brand that I am not nearly cool enough to use but keeps sucking me in with their flawless marketing and minimal chic aesthetic. Just take my money. I have been waiting to use up the rest of my tube of Boy Brow before I placed an order for their new mascara, it’s been a tense few weeks as I was sure that it would sell out but I was in luck. There were also a couple of new products that I have been waiting to try and some of them I anti-hauled but purchased anyway because I’m a jackass. Judge me later, let’s get to the goodies!!…

    Anti-Haul #14

It’s Memorial Day weekend in the states, the official kick-off to summer and apparently when Americans celebrate fallen war heroes with an asinine amount of sales. The last place I want to be on my three-day weekend is a mall but my inbox is overflowing with temptation and I feel the need for an anti-haul. Per usual, these are products that I personally do not feel the need to own but if you are into them, keep doing you 🙂 Melt Cosmetics Gemini Palette – This palette looks stunning and I know that their shadows are amazing but I feel betrayed by them jumping on the palette bandwagon! This brand…

Indie Beauty Brands to Try – Take Three

I think that this is ‘Take Three’ but we all know that I love good indie brand so who knows. I support indie brands because I prefer small batch products, they usually aren’t doing whatever everyone else is doing, they more often than not are cruelty free and there’s so much creativity that goes into these lines. RMS Beauty – This brand offers a handful of complexion products that are formulated with food grade and organic ingredients. Most of their products are cream formulas but they have a setting powder that I have always been curious about. I think this brand can be found at Sephora these days but they…

    Best of April

Remember when summer used to be a feeling not just a season? The feeling of elation and pure bliss as you threw open those double doors for the last time and embarked on 3 months of unadulterated freedom? It occurred to me while leaving work yesterday that I won’t ever experience that feeling again, summer is now just 3 months of trying to figure how to not sweat through your business casual clothing. That doesn’t mean you can’t peel out of your employer’s parking lot on a Friday night scream singing to the best nostalgic summer hits that your dusty ass Ipod has to offer. Before, we get to the…

    Pan It – Update

I am going through old posts and cleaning them up or deleting them *gasp* which is apparently frowned upon because it’s not authentic but I just wanted to do a bit of a clean out. I thought that it would be fun to link back to some super old posts that I don’t think anyone would stumble upon at this point (honestly, how far does one look back through archives) and give a little update. I have to say that if I didn’t understand the importance of good lighting 2 years ago, I certainly do now 😛 Today I am going back in the archives to this gem, excuse the…

    Spring Beauty I’m Excited About

According to the BF there are two types of people when it comes to the film The Usual Suspects – those who think it’s alright and those who love it. I told him that it was the best fucking movie ever made so apparently I fall into the latter group 😛 I’m sorry, that last half hour as the detectives realize that Kint’s story was all bullshit that he was making up on the fly while he is strolling away – I could watch it 100 times and still be mesmerized. Spacey turning out to be a predatory sleazebag definitely tainted the movie a bit for me, the script and…
