Top Ten Tuesday – Reasons to be Happy

Ah yes, it is one of those posts because I am having a hard time finding reasons to be happy at the moment. I actually saw something on Instagram about destination fixation; thinking that our lives would be so much better somewhere else, with someone someone else, doing something else. A person can dream all they want, there isn’t anything wrong with wanting a better life but I think that humans can lose sight of what we have in our life right now that makes it wonderful. These are of course relative to my perception and what makes me happy but here’s hoping that you find your own happiness too…

    When Love Isn’t Enough…

Sheesh, this is a post that I never fathomed that I would be writing. I have been alluding to the fact that some stuff has been going on in my personal life but wasn’t sure what the outcome would be or if I wanted to share anything on my blog or not but since it will impact my bloggerlife, I guess I will. The BF and I have come to the decision to end our 6 1/2 year relationship and it really sucks. We have decided to be amicable and I don’t know if that makes it better or worse, I have only had one other ex-boyfriend and it was…

    1 in 400 Trillion

Oooohhh, so the new season of 13 Reasons Why was released today and I am of two minds about this series. On the one hand, if it encourages someone to talk about depression, anxiety or any mental health issue that they are experiencing then that’s awesome. On the other hand, I feel like it romanticizes suicide and glorifies how shitty people are going to feel in the aftermath. You don’t need to leave tapes behind for people to feel awful after they lose someone to something so tragic. Losing someone to suicide is the most inexplicable pain that a person can experience, the guilt is incredible and you will spend…

Tips for Spending Less Time Adulting

Adulthood, that glorious final stage in life shrouded in mystery that every child dreams of. Well actually, I think a lot kids probably grew up recognizing how stressed and harried most adults were and that tainted the desire to be an adult just a little. I think the biggest misconception that you have about adulthood as a kid is that you will suddenly have all of this freedom in addition to your carefree kid lifestyle; no school, junk food galore, MTV, driving – these things that we want because we cannot have them. I mean, if driving was the big reveal I am here to tell you that not only…

Design Inspo – Mid Century Modern

Remember when your grade school teachers would tell you that; There was no such thing as a stupid question? They were lying. Or perhaps they were making an effort to encourage curiosity and inquisitiveness but beyond the age of 13, there are plenty of stupid questions that people should keep to themselves. And yet, I feel that as we age – instead of getting wiser, we become even more stupid. My favourite was working retail and explaining the return policy to a customer only to then be asked, So – I can’t return this? No, stupid – you can’t. I feel like every question that I have been asked today…

    A Capricorn Collective

During my search for a Capricorn tattoo I kept coming across these different posts about the traits and characteristics of the zodiac sign and they were cracking me up. Now, do I really believe in the zodiac? Eh, not really. I believe more in aliens than the arrangement of the sky having some impact on our lives. I am still getting that tattoo though, I don’t care if that makes me a hypocritical jackass. Anyway, some of these blurbs were spot on while others were completely ridiculous. Literally so true, I think that’s a misuse of literally but I don’t have another word for expressing how true this is. I…

    A Journey to Minimalism

*collective eye roll, unfollow* I see you 😛 I will be the first to say that the trendy, minimalist community that has taken Youtube and Instagram by storm does seem like a bunch of well-off, pretentious assholes. I am just a regular person who decided that I had a bunch of shit around that I don’t need and wanted to consume less than average in my lifetime. It all started when the BF and I started house hunting and I felt a lot of stress and anxiety thinking about boxing all of our belongings, it is daunting and has proved to take some of the excitement out of first time…

    Five Friday Thoughts

Or literally any bargain food brand, I don’t know what I was thinking when I got my first kitten and decided that she needed grain free, free-range, organic, blah, blah, blah, food. The brand that I purchase is not only ridiculously spendy but it never goes on sale! Meanwhile, Fancy Feast is on BOGO this weekend. Honestly, cats. Sunburn and I gotta’ say that it is dark, she has written some of my fave books and some of them were pretty dark but this is on another level. I am only 15 or so chapters in and I cannot think of a more vile, depressing book that I have read.…

If I’m Wandering, I Probably Am Lost: A Travel Bucket List

It’s true, I spend a lot of my life lost – some find this endearing and others find it irritating. If I am not going somewhere important where punctuality is expected then I like to take my time and I don’t get stressed out about the inevitable wrong turn. I once got lost on the way to a Chinese food restaurant but ended up just stopping at a different one and it became my Chinese food restaurant of choice. I think that the journey should be as enjoyable as the destination and I like to take my time. I’ve done the tourist experience in quite a few countries but I…

    Setting a Beauty Budget

Ah, my least favourite 6-letter word 😛 Since discovering my obsessive personality disorder for all things beauty, I have managed a beauty budget like any other household expense. I actually became really interested in budgeting after reading an article written by an individual who was worth 50 million dollars and how they managed their wealth in surprisingly simply ways. They skipped the part about where they made the 50 million but some of the tips have always stuck with me and they work for any budget because clearly I will never see 50 million dollars in my lifetime and it works for me. Beauty is tricky though, I can precisely…
