    The Makeup Wishlist Tag

Has anyone seen the previews for this new Netflix show Ozark? I feel like the Ozarks and the locals who inhabit them have been given such a bad rap. From Deliverance to You’re Next one would think that hicks are just murderous maniacs. Now listen, I grew up around a lot of hicks (yours truly called her ropers shit kickers until about age 15), they are just regular people and it’s totally lame how they have been depicted in popular culture. The Ozarks are stunning but now you can’t visit them without worrying about getting axed by some hicks – can we stop with the hick-shaming? The cast is stacked…

    August Trash Talk

Before we get into the beauty trash – is anyone using the Gutenberg Editor and liking it?  I don’t get it, the blocks don’t make sense to me and I just feel like I have to do a lot of clicking to insert content and the spacing comes out wonky – I just don’t like it. I’m generally pretty accepting of updates and new apps but this one has been a struggle and I went back to the Classic Editor. Am I just getting old? Is this the first sign that I am no longer able to learn new technology?! Technology-schmechnology. We are literally inundated with more technology than we…

    Sephora Insider Event: A Rant

So, I’m at a point where I only shop at Sephora two times a year during the VIB events. I spend enough between the two sales so that I can keep my Rouge status because that 20% coupon is worth it to me. I think that it’s a great opportunity to stock up on products that never go on sale. I didn’t realize that this time around the coupon was restricted to one online purchase thus was the catalyst for this rant. First, it isn’t the customers’ fault that their distribution center can’t keep up with demand and restricting the coupon to one-time online use isn’t the solution. The shipping…

Top Ten Tuesday – VIB Wishlist

I was going to share my Michael’s Halloween Haul but first I was like; slow your roll – it’s too early and second, I purchased a few things from their vintage collection and I have to say – it’s all kinda’ terrifying. I have said this before, Halloween was infinitely scarier 50 years ago. The jack-o-lanterns look like human heads! Anyway, I was not prepared for all that and we’ll do a Sephora wishlist instead but not just any wishlist, the VIB Sale wishlist! In all honesty, I am not super pumped for this sale or new makeup in general so this will mostly be a list of skincare/haircare that I…

Monday Might Have – Magic Cream

Happy Monday 😛 I don’t think I have ever said that or Happy Friday in my life, I’m unsure if I ever will again. My Monday Must Have is a product that I go back and forth on even though it tends to get pretty amazing reviews. Now, I know that Charlotte Tilbury is a bit over-hyped, even though I like a few of her products I just don’t believe that they are all iconic. Also, can everyone take a moment to stop abusing that word? It’s used so often that I don’t think it means what people think it means…Magic Cream makes a lot of claims, it is supposed…

Top Ten Tuesday – Overpriced Items at Sephora

I just used up a sample face cream that I liked much more than I thought that I would and about peed my pants when I took a look at the full-size retail price. We all know that makeup and skincare can be very expensive and I got to browsing the Sephora website to see just how out of hand it can get and was not disappointed. Kevyn Aucoin The Essential Brush Collection – This brush roll retails at a whopping 650 bucks! La Mer The Concentrate – Of course this brand had to make the list, one ounce of this elixir will cost you $370. Tom Ford Eye Color…

    Anti-Haul #14

It’s Memorial Day weekend in the states, the official kick-off to summer and apparently when Americans celebrate fallen war heroes with an asinine amount of sales. The last place I want to be on my three-day weekend is a mall but my inbox is overflowing with temptation and I feel the need for an anti-haul. Per usual, these are products that I personally do not feel the need to own but if you are into them, keep doing you 🙂 Melt Cosmetics Gemini Palette – This palette looks stunning and I know that their shadows are amazing but I feel betrayed by them jumping on the palette bandwagon! This brand…

NARS Attack – Fort De France

How much sparkly powder does one need on their face – clearly more since I keep purchasing it and putting it on my face. I love purchasing new highlighter and layering it on to see what it looks, usually it looks nuts because I am wearing several highlighters at once but I have no self-control and it’s not like I am leaving the house anyway. On my way out of ULTA a few weeks ago, I noticed these giants pans of NARS highlighting powders in a handful of new shades. I grabbed one thinking that it was a huge pan of my fave Albatross highlighter but this wasn’t the case…

    The Scent of Summer

I just read that Minnesota picked the black licorice jelly bean as the best flavour and I am adding that to the list of reasons to move along with potholes, tater tot hotdish, the Twins and the housing market. Black licorice?! I mean, it makes total since, it seems like it could be enjoyable but is ultimately disappointing and leaves a bad taste in your mouth – much like Minnesota. Anyway, while I was completely mislead by the gals on Sex & the City about how life would be in my early 30’s, I completely trust SJP when it comes to fragrance. Well, when it comes to her STASH line…

    Summer Glow Base

I just spent 45 minutes looking at mayonnaise, not because I had any intention of purchasing any but because I couldn’t determine why there were so many different kinds. How is there a market for so many versions of the same product? How much mayonnaise are Americans consuming?! Is anyone really eating the olive oil kind because, gag. But then I realized that there are literally 500 different versions of almost any product – glass cleaner, laundry detergent, pickles, diapers, lotion – I just don’t understand how companies can make money, the supply has to exceed demand and yet prices tend to stay fairly stagnant or they increase. I hate…
