Blogmas Day 15: Glam Mr. Grinch

Breaking news, I finally lost an eyelash – not the wonky one that I wanted to lose but I was anticipating this moment for the past week. I’m actually really impressed that I’ve only lost one eyelash and I’ve had the lashes on for a week, that isn’t shabby. At this rate, I feel like I could wait it out for a 4 week fill but we’ll see if they start coming out more frequently as time passes. Also, it’s 40 degrees outside and global warming has fucked my mood – everything is melting and brown and smells like manure. I thought that we had at least a few months…

    Blogmas Day 14: Garnet Eyes

People, the stars finally aligned and I was on Instagram just as Pixi Beauty posted that their giant Glow-Tonic would be available and I finally snagged one! I’ve literally never managed to purchase one of these coveted jumbo-bottles and I am so excited. It gets better even because it’s the holiday edition, I’m so pumped but that has nothing to do with today’s post 😛 I picked up a couple of the Stila Shimmer & Glow Liquid Eyeshadows that I thought were good for the holidays. I have to say that these and the glitter shadows are kinda’ hit or miss with the quality. Some shades are super vibrant and…

Blogmas Day 10: KVD Lolita, Let’s Talk

Is a requirement of Blogmas that the posts need to be festive? If so, I apologize in advance for this non-festive post but it’s something that has been on my mind and I have some opinions (shocking). For some years now, Kat Von D has had a couple of products in her line in the shade Lolita. It’s a chestnut rose shade that is supposed to be universally flattering and admittedly, it’s a very lovely shade. Today, she dropped an entire collection built around the OG Lolita and I have an issue with this. Lolita conjures an image of a young, beautiful, petite tejana with a mischievous smile and big…

Blogmas Day 9: Patrick Starrr x MAC Holiday Collection

I was ID’d at Culver’s this evening for like a $3 custard and I’m still offended. I mean, clearly, if I was going to steal a credit card the last place that I would use it at would be a Culver’s or I would roll through and order one of everything on the menu! I know that there’s a lot of identity theft that happens during the holidays but a custard?! It wasn’t even that good, anyway – for today’s blog I have a few bits from Patrick Starrr’s final collection with MAC Cosmetics. This time last year, he released his first collection and it makes me a little sad…

    Blogmas Day 8: Slay Ride

I may or may not have been patiently sitting in my car sipping coffee waiting for ULTA to open so that I could snag the PatrickStarrr x MAC holiday collection. I’m glad I went the day of the release though because MAC did not send a lot of stock to the ULTA locations, they only had a couple of each item. I skipped on the lipsticks because my lips have been crusty AF but there are some lovely shades in this collection. I snagged a Lip Glass, Patty Powder and both of the palettes – we are doing holiday themed looks at work and here is what I came up…

Blogmas Day 7: Eyelash Extensions, Today Was the Day

Here’s what happened, today was my long-anticipated eyelash extension appointment that I’ve been yakking in about for ages. Glamour – yes. Kardashians – who? Red carpet ready – always. Or, those are naturally the expectations one has when undergoing this type of beauty treatment. I have had eyelash extensions once before and I really liked them but they were just a treat for my graduation and I didn’t keep them up. The appointment was much as I anticipated, it took about 2 hours during which they cover your lower lashes with these little pads and you have to keep your eyes closed. It’s freaking hard to keep your eyes closed…

Blogmas Day 2: Holiday Halo Eye

I have to preface this post by saying that I have the smallest eyelids ever so halo eyes and cut-creases don’t translate very well on me but I gave it my best effort. Nicole Concilio posted a super simple gold holiday eye look on her channel and it looked stunning but totally wearable, I used a similar color scheme but tried to do the halo effect. For the brown tones, I used both of the quads from Patrick Starrr’s first collaboration with MAC but obviously any combination of brown shadows will work. For the gold shadow, I used the tarte chrome pot in Top Yacht  which is a bit on…

    Best of November

We are already at that time of year where I leave for work, it’s dark and then I leave from work and it’s dark so I don’t have a lot of time to get blog photos taken. I do have like 3 strands of lights leftover from tree decorating so we’ll try to make this happen but I don’t think they’ll be great quality. I don’t want to skip posting because I don’t have my own photos to use but I also don’t love using internet images or snips in posts too often. Anyway, here are some things that made my November a little better! Here’s the deal, I don’t…

    Holiday Palette Recommendation: Friendcation

Can we talk about how clean my kitchen is? I mean, my apartment is usually pretty clean because there really isn’t an excuse for it not to be but I deep cleaned the kitchen today and it feels amazing. I think one of the things that I am most thankful for everyday is the life that I have been able to build for myself. It hits me when I am sitting alone in my living space, just taking in how truly lucky I am. I’ve talked about my childhood on here before, it was a mess, we had nothing and it just feels good to feel safe and secure in…

    Beauty Blogger Tag!

Me getting out of bed this morning, I can’t wait to come home and go back to bed. This time of year is such a chore for me, I need a career that takes a gap between December to February. I don’t know what that would be but sounds perfect. The cashier at Hobby Lobby complimented the ornaments I picked out and my response was, They are part of your Jonestown collection but what I meant was Funkytown and not the hippie compound where they drank the poisoned Kool-Aid and probably skipped decorating for Christmas. That’s how tired I am, now she’s going to go shopping for the Jonestown collection…
