First Impression Friday – The Zodiac Collection

I can’t lie, ColourPop has released so many new products lately that I got a little jaded and when I saw this new collaboration with Kathleen Lights, I was going to skip it. I didn’t think that the palette looked super wearable but now that I have seen it and swatched it, I know I am going to get a lot of wear out of it. I purchased the bundle and though I haven’t worn anything yet, thought I would share a little peek: This twelve pan palette has purples, blues, browns and a stunning black with gold sparkle. Now, I wasn’t totally sold on The Capricorn being a black…

    Glossier Haul

Glossier – the brand that I am not nearly cool enough to use but keeps sucking me in with their flawless marketing and minimal chic aesthetic. Just take my money. I have been waiting to use up the rest of my tube of Boy Brow before I placed an order for their new mascara, it’s been a tense few weeks as I was sure that it would sell out but I was in luck. There were also a couple of new products that I have been waiting to try and some of them I anti-hauled but purchased anyway because I’m a jackass. Judge me later, let’s get to the goodies!!…

    (bare)Pro or No?

bareminerals, the company that convinced women everywhere that liquid foundation was basically poison and shouldn’t be anywhere near our skin recently released a liquid foundation of their very own. When I started wearing their original mineral foundation, I was 17-18 years old and it was all that I needed in a foundation until my mid to late 20’s and I stopped liking how it set on my skin so I switched to liquid foundation. I would like to think that the brand knew that its original fans had drifted back to liquid foundation because it is more forgiving and thus released a good for your skin liquid foundation to accommodate…

    Currently Coveting: Volition Beauty

It seems like there is a new beauty brand launching every minute of every day. I don’t recall the beauty industry being so saturated when I was a kid and would go with my mom to the makeup counter. There were like 5 brands and generally, she would purchase all of her items from one counter. Now there are 100’s of brands pedaling much of the same bullshit and generally new brands don’t interest me. Seen it, seen it, seen it. They think their no-name products are worth how much?! I took a second look at Volition Beauty mostly because of their packaging and some ingredients that caught my eye…

    Anti-Haul Spring Collections Edition

I feel like I just stopped receiving emails about holiday sales and after-holiday sales and blah, blah, blah and now I am getting Spring collection emails! Side note, it feels Spring’ish here – we’re at a balmy 37 degrees and after the sub-zeros it feels amazing but also concerns me. It is supposed to rain tonight and then freeze over before it snows, it’s going to be so fantastic. I have to be honest, Spring collections never interest me because of the obligatory pastels and pinks – there are some unique collections coming out this season but here are all of the beauties that I am passing on: Oh, Chanel, I…

    New Affordable Beauty

It’s no secret that I am a fan of drugstore beauty and there have been so many new products at the drugstore recently, I haven’t been able to resist! I have a handful of new products that I am excited to talk about! The Infallible Pro-Matte and Pro-Glo foundations were both hits for me, when I saw that the Infallible line was releasing two new primers, I figured that I had to try them. I purchase them on BOGO, they retail at 12.99 each. I already talked about one of these blushes from FLOWER Beauty, I also picked up Peach Primrose and their two new Seal the Deal setting sprays.…

First Impression Friday – Fenty Beauty

What haven’t you heard about this brand, probably nothing? Do I have any new insights to share, probably not. Honestly,  I don’t often go in for the celebrity beauty brands – I prefer established brands with a reputation for quality. I appreciate that this brand didn’t release a ton of random products all at once, it was a curated collection of face products followed by a holiday collection. I also appreciate that the prices are not completely outrageous, they are on-par with high-end beauty brands. Some of these newer brands come out with products that can be quite spendy given the fact that they have no track record to back…

    Banana Pudding Powder Time

I was so excited to try this product out and I have to say that I am equally as disappointed in this one. TooFaced released a whole slew of products recently including a collaborative collection with OG beauty guru, Kandee Johnson. The Banana Pudding Powder is supposed to be a brightening powder that sets and locks makeup into place, blurs harsh makeup lines and gives skin a photo-shopped finish. The powder itself is a peach-y tone with pink, purple, yellow and blue pigment in it. I have used powders with colour correcting pigments like this one before and love the blurring effect that they can have. My favourite right now is by Guerlain,…

    Gabrielle by Chanel

After testing out seemingly 100 perfume samples these last couple of months, I finally settled on a new fragrance. It’s one that I wasn’t particularly interested in until I tested it on a whim and loved it. It is the new scent from Chanel, Gabrielle. I am not usually drawn to Chanel scents, I have a bottle of No. 5 and will wear it on occasion but it’s not my favourite. That being said, Gabrielle is very Chanel-esque and may not be for those who don’t like their fragrances but it is also just different enough to be perfect. The notes are light and floral with orange blossom, ylang-ylang, jasmine…

Product of the Week – Clay Cleansers

I had a moment today after hearing that the Huda Beauty Rose Gold palette was being discontinued, panicked and almost bought it! I had this palette on a wish list but skipped it after swatching the shadows in store because it just wasn’t exciting in person. Then it was sold out forever and I went back to wanting it and now that I won’t be able to have it, and I want it more. Clever marketing Huda, you aren’t fooling me though. I would try the lippies, those do look really stunning. I thought that I had included at least one of these cleansers in my Best of August post but I didn’t…
