Holiday Shopping 101: Making it Fun for Everyone

It’s the most wonderful time of the yeeeaaarrrr! Well, almost but people are definitely already out doing some holiday shopping, myself included and Black Friday is just a couple of weeks out. It can be a stressful time of year but a lot of fun with everyone out looking for that perfect gift for a loved one and getting caught up in the hustle and bustle. It really kills the mood for shoppers and customer service associates when people are out behaving like fools. I post something along these lines every year but here are some things to keep in my mind for a pleasant shopping experience. This might be…

    Dear Diary: Solitude

It’s November and I have serious beard envy, if I was a male with the ability to grow a beard then I would absolutely do it. Lamenting my beardless woes to my co-worker and she responds; we could do no-shave November. And we could but gross but then also who’s going to see it because I’m single and alone and nobody cares if I shave any part of my body which brings me to today’s topic – being single at 31. AaaaAlllLLL byyyyyy myyySeeelllLffff 😛 Being single and middle-aged (close enough anyway) doesn’t bother me but people in my life have a keen interest in my newfound solitude and suddenly,…

    Election Day Playlist

Well, it’s Election Day – who is ready for all of the political ads and junk mail to cease?! Political ad campaigns annoy the piss out of me, the more ads that a candidate runs is simply a reflection of how much cash they have to throw around. I think they are useless, if one is voting based on ads then they are doing it wrong and it’s insulting that they think the American voter can be so easily swayed. If you are headed to the polls today, you might be waiting for a bit, here are some tunes to get you fired up and distract you from the fact…

    A Little Life Update

Is my life very interesting? Absolutely not but it’s good for a chuckle every once in awhile and I wanted to post today even if it is a bit random 🙂 First off, the Car Shopping Chronicles continue and I have looked at way too many cars in the last few weeks with nothing really feeling like the perfect new vehicle. I had taken a break from car shopping but about a month ago, I was at the grocery store and the power locks on my car don’t work anymore so I leave it open and empty of anything of value. I came out of the grocery store and someone…

Potlucks & Eating Disorders: Some Food for Thought

It’s potluck season, we’ve actually had two at work in the last month and as someone who has a bit of an awkward relationship with food, this season can be straight misery. On the outside, the expectation is to be excited about the season of indulging, sharing favorite recipes, exchanging dishes and I enthusiastically play the part. I even share my recipes on here from time to time for others to enjoy. On the inside though it’s more like; fuuuuuccccckkkkkk. Having an eating disorder is something one really keeps to themselves which can be a predicament when partaking in any event that involves food. It’s a curious thing – roughly…

Blogtober Day: XXII – The Problem With Fake Reviews

This isn’t a fall related post but I think it’s an important discussion since I talk about brand transparency and being a smart consumer on my blog and wanted to share my thoughts on the Sunday Riley instructing employees to post fake reviews as part of their job debacle. If you haven’t read the email that was sent out to employees, it was shared by a former employee who posted it in a subreddit and you can check it out here. There’s a lot in this email that irritates me; not only were employees told to post reviews about SR products, they were also told to post fake reviews about…

Blogtober Day: XVII – Dear Vegans, This is Why Nobody Likes You

I’m exaggerating (a tad) I have many a vegan friend and I do believe that the more people shifting to a plant-based diet then the better off the environment will be in the long run. However, I read this article and it pissed me off because it’s an example of what I like to call Extreme Veganism and as with any extremist group, it’s detrimental to the cause. Vegan, by definition is someone who does not consume or use anything derived from animals or their by products. If that definition is to be expanded to not consuming, using or doing anything that has an impact on an animal in any kind…

Blogtober – Day XII: Friday Favorites Spooky Edition

My article collection is getting out of hand since I haven’t been posting for Friday Favorites so I rounded some up from the last couple of weeks that are on the spooky side. Enjoy! Horror movies almost always get the pass when it comes to awards, this list is so good and I agree with most all of the picks! Also, it gave me so many ideas for the second half of my 31 Nights of Horror. This is scary to me, I don’t think that light pollution is seen as a true problem but it does impact living beings, all living beings. Postal workers, just out here solving the…

    Top Ten Tuesday – Scatterbrained

Do you ever feel as though your brain never shuts off and it isn’t like you’re sitting around solving all world’s problems, it’s just a random collection of thoughts? Same. 2003, that’s what. Back before it was trendy to be ashamed of the President and openly mock him, Natalie Maines made a rather innocuous comment about GW (my pet name for Bush) that completely ruined their career. You could compare the situation to the Kathy Griffith debacle but that was straight nuts. I just cannot believe that they never bounced back from that, they were so huge in the early 00’s. Like the pasta I had for dinner last night…

    Wednesday Wisdom

I love those days where you don’t plan a post and you think that you can just come home after work and put something together but then you have a work meeting that goes until 9 PM, 9 freaking PM and you’re in a surly-ass mood when you finally get home and get to wash your greasy face. Me, right now. Instead of a lovely collection of quotes for this Wednesday Wisdom, I just have some sage personal advice that I’ve collected over these 31 years. You’d think that this would be something that one would assess before having kids, a trip to Target will tell you otherwise. I find…
