NARS Attack – Fort De France

How much sparkly powder does one need on their face – clearly more since I keep purchasing it and putting it on my face. I love purchasing new highlighter and layering it on to see what it looks, usually it looks nuts because I am wearing several highlighters at once but I have no self-control and it’s not like I am leaving the house anyway. On my way out of ULTA a few weeks ago, I noticed these giants pans of NARS highlighting powders in a handful of new shades. I grabbed one thinking that it was a huge pan of my fave Albatross highlighter but this wasn’t the case…

Burt’s Bees Makeup – Blush for Spring

Not so recently, Burt’s Bees – known for their skincare and cult fave lip balm released a line of natural makeup. There are words to describe my makeup and natural is not one of them but I took a chance on a couple of their new blushers. I don’t need much convincing when it comes to purchasing new blush but it definitely helped that the shades were exactly the coral, peach-y, nude tones that I primarily wear. There are three shades, they come in these stinking adorable honeycomb plastic compacts and retail for $10 each. I chose Bare Peach and Toasted Cinnamon which are both warm-toned shades with a satin…

First Impression Friday – Fix + Shimmer

We are trying to watch the movie Mother but I can’t get into it because J-Law being married to Javier Bardem just seems incredibly unrealistic. How old is he? I Googled it, 49, which is way younger than I thought but still. That voice, what is that? I have used the new MAC shimmer Fix+ that I picked up a couple of days ago a few times now and I have some thoughts. Mostly, disappointed thoughts. I chose Pinklite because I use the pink tube of the Strobe Cream and figured that this would best match my skintone. In the bottle, the liquid is milky, shimmery and iridescent so one…

    ULTA Spring Haul!

Nothing like a new vacuum to make me feel like I really have my life together. Seriously though, I have been on the hunt for a new vacuum for ages and haven’t come upon one that had everything I wanted and at the right price. My old Hoover spit out more stuff than it sucked in but I just kept putting it off until Friday morning. On Friday, I found my perfect vacuum on clearance – when does that happen? It has a special attachment for pet hair, detachable canister, hard floor suction setting, even a ceiling tool which I have already used on all of the ceilings and blinds.…

    Anti-Haul #12

I am watching the film adaptations of the Department Q novels and they aren’t in English – which is fine but I can’t multi-task when I have to read subtitles. I need to start learning to speak other languages so that I don’t need subtitles. Yes, learn more languages not to culture myself but to enjoy more pop-culture, this makes sense to me. The new releases just keep coming so of course it’s time for a little stop-shopping therapy. Viseart Theory Palettes – These aren’t new releases really, I think that they just expanded the line with new palettes. This is supposed to be the eye-shadow formula to end all…

    Trying On: Nivea

Super random post for a snowy Saturday but I didn’t have anything else planned for today anyway! Nivea is currently on BOGO at ULTA, I don’t usually purchase this brand but I almost always shop sales for body care and hair care and picked up a couple of things. I am totally sold on the body lotions that I picked up, they are apparently new oil-infused formulas and they are lovely. The in-shower lotion was surprisingly an immediate win for me as well. I have tried products like this before and I want to like them, it’s a great concept – why not just get moisturizing out of the way…

    Fun Kitchen Finds

We are due for snow this evening and it’s slated to be the coldest Easter in the last 10 years but my kitchen is feeling decidedly Spring-like. Yes, I did make a trek to Wal-Mart this morning and yes, I feel like a jerk so judge away.  It’s a nightmare trying to find anything in stores that big but I did manage to find a few Pioneer Woman finds and they are perfect. The store in my area didn’t have a ton of stuff but what they did have was of good quality, I did place an Amazon order as well and am excited for that to get here. In the…

    Homeware Want List

What is it about spring that makes me want to redecorate my kitchen? I don’t even like spring, I prefer the opposite of spring – dead of winter, that’s my season. I do spend a lot of time baking this time of year for various events – someone always seems to be having a baby or a wedding shower. My kitchen is a hodge-podge of carefully curated country and vintage pieces. It’s not to everyone’s taste and could even be called a little kitsch but I am the only one using it and I like it. I love the flea market aesthetic of the Pioneer Woman brand but the line…

Chi for ULTA – First Impressions

It finally happened, I purchased a new blow dryer. The low cycle on my current model stopped working so I was having to dry my hair on high which sounded like a jet engine and made my hair way too fluffy. I also decided to purchase a new flat iron because they had a matching one due to the fact that my current one was making a crackling noise when I used it. There are noises that one’s electronic devices should not make, crackling is one of them. Both of these appliances were cheap and I realized that with all of the money that I am spending on replacing cheaper…

    Easter Decor Inspo!

It doesn’t feel very spring-like here with 5-7 inches of snow on the way but I was poking around in Bath and Body Works this weekend and looking at their spring candles. I didn’t purchase any because I am just not ready. I just realized that prior to moving to MN, I never talked about the weather – maybe I did but certainly not as obsessively as I do now that I live here. I can’t lie, I don’t like Easter, I don’t even like spring and I think it’s because of the pastels and allergies. Mostly allergies…or is it the pastels? I think this is the first year that…
